Excellent Watch - Read for adjustment
The appearance of this watch is as visually striking in person as it is from the photograph. What you see is exactly what you'll get. Unlike other reviews, I have not had any issues with the paint chipping or flaking off - even after mistakenly taken the watch into the ocean for a long day of body and boogie board surfing. After only several months of light to medium wear, the metal mesh wristband did start to fray. It started to poke me in my wrist and get caught in my clothing, tearing some of the fabric on occasion. I have since not worn the watch, although the condition of the mesh band is a reflection of user wear, not necessarily due to poor quality.I also had difficulty adjusting the clasp to properly fit the band onto my wrist. I imagine this is due to the clasp being on a metal mesh band. For those seeking a how-to tutorial on adjusting the clasp, youtube 'Adjusting clasp on metal mesh watch band' [...]

Sharp band!
Johan Eric Men's JE1002-13-007 Tondor Tonneau Black IP Mesh Stainless Steel Watch The watch would be great if the band didn't develop shards of snag points. The band has ruined many sleeves and got blood out of my wrist more than a regular physician has done in a year! I am stuck with a useless product unless the seller reaches out to either send me a new mesh band or replacement watch. Amazon is not providing me a means to contact the seller to rectify this situation therefore it leaves me to posting this here.

No band should be this hard to adjust.
This watch is not bad overall, and the price is right. But as some reviewers have said, getting the band to loosen up for adjustment is a real challenge. I followed the advice of other reviewers to read the documentation on it, and the closure was still so tight that popping it loose causes bending of the parts. If this thing had come with a regular leather band, I would have been fine with it. Now it doesn't want to stay clasped and tight, so I've given up and put in on the shelf.

Real Hassle Moving the Clasp, but Great Once on Adjusted to Your Wrist
I liked the looks and functionality of this watch. The "instruction" booklet showed lots of watches, but none that looked this one. Because date is the only function other than analog time display on the watch, it was easy to set.Fitting it to my wrist was a whole different matter. My wrist is apparently smaller than what manufacturers expect, and I almost always have to shorten the band or move the clasp. Moving the clasp to make the watch fit more tightly was difficult enough (no hint of how to do this in the "instructions"), but even after figuring out how the clasp should work, it seemed next to impossible to close without breaking the watch. I called the 800 number on the watch's box and inquired how to move the clasp. The lady said she would email the next day a diagram of how to move the clasp.Meanwhile, I consulted a local jeweler. He thought it'd work exactly as I thought it would (and, as it turns out, exactly as the emailed diagram would show the next day). But we still couldn't close the clasp. He was afraid he'd break the watch if he applied any more pressure, and I fretted at home over the same thing for the next two hours, becoming more frenzied and frustrated by the minute. Then I headed for my tool drawer for a large hammer to achieve some satisfaction at least, but opted instead to try using pliers. I was determined to close that clasp, even if it ruined the watch. When I boldly pressed the pliers around the clasp, it snapped gratifyingly into place, a motion that could not be completed by pushing with fingers alone, as both the jeweler and I had repeatedly tried earlier. Once I knew this, I was able to open the clasp and adjust the length of the band easily and satisfactorily. Now I love the watch and how it fits, think it's worth the price, and would recommend it to others. Just remember: Push the clasp shut with considerable strength, most easily with pliers. It adjusts just like a simple slip buckle on a cloth belt. But in this case you're pushing the clasp into metal mesh, not cloth, so you have to push hard. Hmmm ... now I wonder how to change the battery.

Good Value
I am happy with the overall look of the watch. It is lighter than I expected, which I appreciate. Adjusting the band is difficult if you've never done it before. I found a YouTube video that was very helpful. I believe it's a very good value.

Don't adjust the clasp; it falls apart and can't be put together by an ordinary owner
If you're born with the correct wrist size you may have a value. Nice watch to keep in your pocket or to look at while it sits on your desk. Otherwise, if you readjust the clasp it falls apart and can't be put together by an ordinary owner. This was an expensive mistake. It's hard to understand the nominally huge MSRP.The return to manufacturer steps are too cumbersome to justify wasting my time. Besides, I would expect the manufacturer to tell me that it was my fault. What a bad outcome to anticipate when considering the costs of shipping to a repair service.

Sleek, flat and very black.
The watch is exactly what I was looking for. Classic look. Comfortable. Easy to read. Once you find the correct video online on how to adjust the band, it's super simple and easy to change the sizing. One of the best looking watches I've owned in a long time.
