The 2010 Death Penalty would like to introduce the newest innovation in voice coil cooling. The Six Axis Star ADC incorporated into the motor of the new DP involves six independent columns of magnets with both an open top plate and an open bottom plate. Cooling of the voice coil is now unrestricted and drilling of the top plates and poles are now unnecessary, so motor force is not sacrificed. The flux from the six magnetic columns of the motor is transferred through a common top plate, in order to fully saturate the magnetic gap. Vehicles that are designed to be high powered sub-bass machines (ground-pounders) have requirements that are a bit different than both standard daily driven vehicles and SPL vehicles. They require a subwoofer that can handle extreme amounts of power for long periods of time, both thermally and mechanically, and must be able to do this time and time again. The Death Penalty was designed with the ground-pounder in mind, and takes the concept a bit further by increasing the usable X-max of the subwoofer with a longer voice coil assembly. To reduce mechanical fatigue and to maintain linear cone movement throughout the stroke a multiple layer suspension is utilized. The custom tooled cone used on the Death Penalty subwoofer is of a composite material that has one of the highest strength/weight ratios on the market. The lead wires are sewn to the suspension pack in order to both eliminate noises from the lead slapping the cone, and to reduce movement of the leads which can cause them to break.
