Sonnet Technologies Solo 10G Thunderbolt 2 to 10GBASE-T Ethernet Adapter (SOLO10G-TB2)

The title says it all. When it works, it works fairly good. I've never been able to get 10Gbps ever. I use iperf3 to test the link between computers. The fastest I've ever seen was 6-7Gbps. In reality, drive performance it around 3Gbps (tested on an NVME drive with write speeds of 15Gbps). There are things that could influence those speeds, but I feel that this is the limiting factor. Often when the computer wakes from sleep, it loses the 10Gb connection and reverts to a 1Gbps connection. This could have something to do with the switch or cable, but other computers don't do this. I feel like the limitation of Thunderbolt is really holding back some of the things that can be done with this.Using a network monitor, I noticed that when running macOS Big Sur, internet drops out for 2-3 seconds then comes back a few seconds later during a file transfer. It didn't do this before, so maybe their drivers need optimization.It does get hot, but it's not too big of an issue. I do like the lights on it. It allows me to easily see what speed it's connected at and if there is an issue going on.Overall it works nicely most of the time. I really can't complain too much as its the cheapest option on the market.

Using this to connect to Qnap NAS units in the office using older Macs with thunderbolt 2. This works very well and while somewhat pricey, I feel it’s a good value because it works every time and so far, it has not failed us. It does get warm to the touch so if that’s a concern, then proceed with caution.

Works great for MacOS, plug and play in OS11. Has some odd behavior with VirtualBox VMs that’s less than ideal though. Also runs HOT to the touch.

This was the perfect solution for my home studio network. My Early 2013 MacBook Pro needed to be attached to my 10GB Ethernet network and this adapter did the trick. I plugged it in and it started working. No fuss, just immediate gratification. I highly recommend this solution.

Works well with my 2013 “trash can” Mac Pro - a great way to add 10Gbps Ethernet to that device. (Also works with both Mojave and Catalina.)

If you need to access data over a 10G connection on an older iMac that does not have thunderbolt 3, this works perfect.

THE THUNDERBOLT CABLE FOR THE DEVICE IS NOT REMOVABLE OR REPLACEABLE AND IS TOO SHORT WHEN USING A MAC DOCK STAND. THE DEVICE ONLY WORKS WITH MAC OSX 10.13.6+ OR MOJAVE.

Worked fine when it worked. ~2 months after purchasing it is dead. Disappointed.

Ich konnte bei meinen Imac 2015 den thunderbolt 2 adapter in Osx als auch unter Windows 10 mit treiber installation verwenden auf den Imac, das update konnte ich dann in Windows 10 H2 unter Administrator ganz einfach starten und mit Auswahl 1 Enter updaten . Bisher konnte ich nur 1 Gigabit testen da mein switch zu wenig 10 Gigabit Anschlüsse hatte. Ich habe gelesen das sie bei 10 Gigabit heiß werden , dabei hab ich ein Noktua Lüfter 60 er dazu gekauft mit ein 4Poligen Netzteil wie man es vom pc damals noch kannte ,dann einfach mit den gummi füßen draufgelegt und somit ist er leise und auch kühl was die haltbarkeit dann auch um Jahre verbessern sollte. Weitere Test folgen später.

Verbindungssabbrüche, wie andere Käufer berichten, hatte ich noch nicht, das Teil wird aber echt heiß.

Einstöpseln und schon hat man am alten Mac mit Thunderbolt 2 ein supermodernes 10 Gbe Netzwerkinterface. Genial!

Scalda un pò ma direi che è abbastanza normale, utilizzo su mac pro 2013 su porta TB2. si raggiungono velocità paragonabile ad un a connessione 10 GBE con schede basate su chip Aquantia ( Asus XG 100 C) .è un pò caro ma vale il prezzo. spediione al solito prcisa e puntuale.

Mise à niveau d'un imac 27" sur un réseau 10Gb. La vitesse est là.
