## Description

After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach. On her own but not alone she has only one goal, to survive. Here begins the first adventure for a young and inexperienced Lara Croft in a story which charts the journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive.

Review: This is what an ACTION ADVENTURE Combo should be - I preordered this game because it looked promising, and I was familiar with the series. Now that I have played this game, I can safely say that it is an amazing action/adventure game that marks a great beginning to Lara Croft. For starters, the game has beautiful graphics. The environment around you along with the lighting do a great job of making you feel like Lara is really stranded in an island. The cinematography pushes the game to the next level by creating great shots that make the action move along. Lara's outfit changes as the game progresses, which is great because you do not want to have a pretty looking Lara walk around throughout the whole game like nothing has happened despite falling, getting shot, etc. The sound is great. It continues to move the action. The soundtrack is pretty good too, especially Lara's song. I give HUGE KUDOS to Crystal Dynamics for revamping Lara. She no longer has to show off her "assets" to prove she can get someone's attention. Her origin story is nicely done. You can see the change from a young adult uncertain about some of her abilities to a more mature woman ready to do anything to survive. This is what makes this new Lara compelling. She is forced to grow up, and she becomes a great female lead without having to show off her body like the past Laras did. I honestly like this Lara better. The past Laras were good...I cannot discredit them, but this new Lara proves that there's strength and beauty in using your head and...guns hahaha without having to be overly sexualized. The voice acting for Lara is very well done as well. The story is great and suits the whole idea of Tomb Raider. Also, exploring is great...what kind of game would this be if you could not raid tombs? lol I thoroughly enjoyed the little puzzles to get from point a to b and discover new tombs. My only pet peeve was that quick time events were used a bit...not as bad as Resident evil 5 or 6. So, it didn't become overwhelming, but I hope that they do not overdo it in a sequel. Overall, this game is amazing. It truly is an action/adventure game unlike other games that claim that combo. The new Lara is a good heroine with great qualities and a good origin story. Congrats again to Crystal Dynamics for the choices that they made, and I hope Square Enix continues to support this franchise in this current path. Would love to see what else they have in store for a potential sequel!
Review: Amazing first Tomb Raider Experience! - Now I have been a huge Halo fan for ten years, and have enjoyed a few other experiences like Skyrim, Oblivion, the Lego games, yes...some Call of Duty, some Battlefield 3, and others on the Xbox 360 and I wanted a new gaming experience. I first rented Tomb Raider by Crystal Dynamics after it released, and kinda liked it for the day I had it. This year I got the chance to purchase it, and the shipper got it to me faster than expected. I beat the campaign on Normal difficulty in 20-25 hrs, I actually forget the time but its an estimate, and loved it! I really enjoyed the experience, and the last couple levels were both intense, gritty in the storyline, and very fullfilling. The motion capture actress behind Lara Croft did a terrific job, but I think she could of done better. There are other extremely good mo cap performances Ive seen. That would be The Last of Us's Ellie and Joel by Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, respectively. I watched that game on Youtube and was completely blown away by them, and the games outstanding qualities. For those that want something new to enjoy other than the FPS, or are waiting for Halo news, Destiny, better shooters, etc, then invest a few dollars into this game. There is more than the game...online multiplayer and an open world for you to collect neat objects that tell deeper stories about the game and the backstories of past characters/experiences/current character's development. Graphics are pretty good, but could be fixed in a few places. For me, its a 9/10 Gameplay: I was addicted to it fast and loved how smooth it was: 11/10 Story and characters: not all of it was perfect, as some of it was lacking in certain character depth, but for the most part: 8/10 Replayability: quite a bit actually! so far 8.5 or 9/10. I plan on getting some of the collectables and waiting several months before playing the campaign again on Hard difficulty.
