Review "Lewis gets it just right in her examination of how tiny cracks can shatter in a marriage that gets 'cemented in the fable' of what being together is supposed to be."―Publishers Weekly"Lewis' newest novel is an emotional roller coaster of a read, but in a good way. As fans follow the protagonist's story and journey through one of the hardest moments of her life, they will find themselves feeling every emotion with her along the way - hope, anguish, rage, sadness and love all emerge. It's a testament to Lewis' great writing and is an absolutely fantastic read."―RT Book Reviews"Kristyn Kusek Lewis defines heartbreak with deep understanding and compassion in Save Me. I swung from hope to rage, and back again as I followed Daphne through the shattering after effects of infidelity. Lewis portrays neither angels nor demons, but the aching reality that marriage can become, along with the possibility of grace that love offers."―Randy Susan Meyers, author of Accidents of Marriage and The Comfort of Lies "Kristyn Kusek Lewis has written a novel that is as thought-provoking as it is thoughtful. From its heartbreaking beginning to its heartwarming end, SAVE ME had me asking myself, 'What would I do?' over and over - and over again. Absorbing, compelling, and a pleasure to read, this book is a page turner."―Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of Forever, Interrupted and After I Do "In SAVE ME, Kristyn Kusek Lewis takes what might have been a familiar story and puts it on a different trajectory, to a much more compelling end. It's a book that leaves you thinking about the choices the characters made, and whether or not yours would have been the same."―Sarah Healy, author of Can I Get An Amen? and House of Wonder"Fans of women's fiction about enduring female friendships will relate to debut author Lewis's vivid and genuinely written protagonists. A good choice for readers who enjoy the novels of Kristin Hannah and Patricia Gaffney."―Library Journal"Kristyn Kusek Lewis's How Lucky You Are is a moving, thoughtful story about what happens when friends become family and stay close despite all odds. It's an honest, empathetic novel of love, commitment, and female friendship with characters I didn't want to let go."―Meredith Goldstein, author of The Singles and Boston Globe "Love Letters" Columnist"Charming and achingly real. . . I'm certain it will become a book club favorite."―Sarah Jio, author of The Violets of March and The Bungalow"Wise and compulsively readable. . . If you've ever had a best friend or been a best friend, this is a book for you."―Meg Mitchell Moore, author of The Arrivals and So Far Away Read more About the Author Kristyn Kusek Lewis is the author of How Lucky You Are (5 Spot, 2012). ATTENTION: ALL MARRIED PEOPLE MUST READ!
Every married person should read this book! From the title, one cannot get a clue about the content of this novel. From the picture on the cover, the potential cannot get a clue; however, after reading, the cover makes perfect sense, as does the title. This is the story of a marriage between two highly educated, deeply serious, unselfishly motivated professionals--doctors. After a sweet little encounter as children in a summer camp, they vow to always stay in touch; but, as with most such friendships, things get in the way and they lose touch only to encounter one another twelve years later when both are beginning residency in the same university hospital. The romance blossoms immediately and soon they are together and marry five years later. Their commitment to one another, their marriage, and their future is quite deep and totally shared. I loved they way that they bought an old house and refurbished it together doing the hard labor themselves to make it a show place. They purchase a puppy together and make it a part of their family. So, you ask, why is such a stereotypical plot worthy of reading again? There is one event, one simple event which occurs on his birthday that changes the entire course of the lives of these two people and with that change, others in their purview are also affected. The statement that this novel makes is earth-shattering and is one that, I believe, all couples face whether married for two years or fifty-two years. The reader is so invested in what the results of this event will be, that the book cannot be put aside for more than an hour. I found myself giving my Saturday to finish it; and, I make no excuses. The tension of the plot grips the soul. When the husband makes his announcement that he has found someone else, the first thought is to blame him roundly and help her deal with it as she moves on. Not so! The twist that occurs soon after the announcement will turn your heart over. This woman, an internist, is so gripped with love for her husband that she goes to all kinds of lengths to rescue her marriage--and "get back to where we were." Not going to happen! But, the lengths to which she is willing to go are amazing. Beyond that, the reactions of the husband are both startling and anticipated. The resolution was not at all what I had prepared myself to accept; but, in retrospect, it is the ONLY one that I could find acceptable, although it is a tear-jerker. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Like I say, all married people need to read it and learn its message.

Pretty good book, I didn't care for the ending
This book was not a light or easy read. Owen and Daphne are a 'perfect on paper' couple. They met and had a childhood romance as kids at summer camp. Years later, they met again at their medical internships, and are now married. They have been together 10 years at this point. The story opens with Daphne getting takeout to celebrate Owen's birthday. Owen has been held up at work, where he is a pediatric oncologist.Instead of the birthday celebration Daphne is expecting, Owen announces that he needs some time apart to think. He has met someone else, and they have slept together just once.Daphne has a lot of trouble coming to grips with this news. How could the Owen that she knows do this to her? Does he love this other woman? Owen says no, it wasn't about the other woman (Bridget), it was more about him not being in the same place as Daphne who has grown increasingly impatient about her desire to start a family.Daphne's friends and family try to be supportive, but are carrying their own baggage that can't help but influence their opinions and advice.Soon after this announcement, Bridget is hurt badly in a car accident and Owen turns to Daphne for support.Reasons I liked this book: This book paints a very grim picture of what happens to a marriage when it is taken for granted. The fact that Daphne struggled with her choices rang true to me as did the fact that her friends and family, though trying to be helpful, did not always come across that way.Reasons I did not give 5 stars: I was not fond of the ending.

Five stars for the writing style. One star for how the characters addressed their problems.
This book tells the story of a marriage gone stale and how the different parties deal with it.Daphne is complacent and nags for what she wants.Owen gets involved with someone at work.Neither approach is a good one.The author makes the characters very real and it is easy to get emotionallyinvolved with their plight.I gave it 5 stars for the quality of the writing but if asked abouthow I liked each of the characters I would have to rate them a 1.Interesting read that goes quickly and engages you.

Wonderful .
This book had me from the first sentence! I read it quickly and yet savored every word. I was able to feel Daphne's pain and her utter bewilderment at the turn her life had taken. This is because of the author and her ability to put the reader squarely into her character's shoes. I know that I will read this book again and will probably be even more impressed. This book is highly recommended!

Interesting
This book is a very thought provoking book and I was happy with the way things went. I think that the author needs to write a second book starting 5 years from where she left off.

Very good, just not great. . .
Well-written story. I liked the emotional depth of the writing and the characters. For whatever reason, the story just didn't hit me squarely as it closed, and I felt a bit cheated. I guess I would have liked a little further depth of resolution. A good read, no doubt. I would definitely look for this author in the future when choosing light reading.

Save Me
Finished in 1 day! Like Randy Susan Meyers' Accidents of Marriage, Save Me packs an emotional punch that is at once believable and realistic. Daphne's shock, reactions, emotions, fears, needs and internal debate are so credibly described, I felt like I was experiencing all of it with her. Highly recommended!

Save Me
Enjoyed this book. Loved the people but knew it had to be over with Owen. Loved the relationship with Daphne and Annie and Daphne and Lucy. Lots of interesting character development with the story. Oh. I loved Blue and her reaction after the racoon attack. Really enjoyed this book.
