It actually scan as original size. You can do simple measurements from the software too.

This Solid edge is Shining3d version which is very similar to ST10 version. You're also free to upgrade to solid edge 2020 version.

Q: Can it scan in hd scan mode without the add-on: "hd prime2x plus (used in rapid hd scanning mode)"?

Yes. It can. This mode allows the user to scan objects that require higher precision and detail while maintaining the flexibility of handheld operation. If equipped with HD Prime 2X Plus Pack, Handheld HD Scan mode can achieve faster scanning experience without placing markers on object with rich geometry features, such as art pieces, statues.

Q: Does the solidedge software expire after a set time?

The SolidEdge software license included lifetime license with a dongle. As long as you have dongle, you have active license.
