Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm: Deluxe Hardcover Classic

A lot of bang for the buck here. Note that the book's spine and cover have a textured, gilded quality. Nice. Thumbs up for the kids or anyone who loves stories.

This is a beautiful book, new and shiny! It came right on time and I am so excited to read it!!! Much bigger than I originally pictured it would be but that is no problem to any book lover.

Well illustrated everything is amazing same stories I remember as a kid it is a fantastic book and a fantastic buy

Pros:Good selection, faithful retellings, interesting original woodcuts.Cons:I wish I had seen the large color illustrations before buying it. I'm not a big fan of them, personally. They're just not my style... they're too modern and cartoonish; it doesn't suit the wonder and darkness of these old stories. My kids even agree with me on this. If I had known, I would have bought the version illustrated by Isabelle Brent. She illustrated my copy of Celtic Fairy tales, which is absolutely gorgeous. My kids love that one. I didn't even know there was a Grimm's Fairy Tales illustrated by her until later, unfortunately. You can get it used for only $0.01 + shipping right now, so if I were you, I'd buy that instead!

A beautiful rendition of classic Grimm Fairy Tales.

I love these traditional stories. I have to say I was expecting more in the way of illustrations. The illustrations don’t seem to match the flow of the stories. They seem just stuck in places and are not done well. I’m debating whether to return based on the shotty pics.

I was disappointed upon discovering that the endings of the stories have been changed. Not the original brutal endings I was looking forward too... Other then that its okay... Ended up giving it my six year old. And now to search for a better version...
