Kurtis did a markable amount of research to develop.
I love American history and especially the times and actions of our forefathers. I have read many biographies on the heroes of the revolution and consider myself well versed at 78. I wish EVERYONE would watch all five disks to understand what America is and how we got so strong and influenced so many nations to emulate us. Many brave men have sacrificed their lives and honor to give us this great free nation. Ages from elementary school and up will enjoy the action, drama, and presentation. It is very well documented and made interesting by the competent and professionalism of the presenter. In a word BUY it. You will enjoy.

Hoorah for "The American Revolution".
I watched this series every time it came on. It was one of the great classics of the history series before history series became popular. My opinion hasn't changed from seeing it after all these years. The detail in the telling, the reenactments and readings, and Christopher Stone's uplifting music almost makes "Revolution" look like a remake. I believe some of the criticisms of it are made by people spoiled by the bigger budgets and advanced technology that come with modern series. This is an excellent companion for "Liberty".

A FIRST RATE DOCUMENTARY...............
AN EXCELLENT OVERVIEW OF THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR,VERY MUCH IN KEEPING WITH A & E's USUAL HIGH STANDARDS. I ESPECIALLY LIKED ALL THE SEGMENTS ON BENEDICT ARNOLD, WHO PLAYS A MUCH GREATER ROLE IN THE WAR THAN MOST AMERICANS REALIZE,ASIDE FROM HIS TRAITOROUS BEHAVIOR LATE IN THE CONFLICT. A DEFINITE "MUST HAVE " FOR HISTORY BUFFS, IT IS A PROGRAM THAT YOU WILL WATCH AGAIN AND AGAIN OVER THE YEARS, BECAUSE IT NEVER TIRES IN THE TELLING.

Disappointed in misinformation of product
I was supposed to receive 5 dvd discs of The American Revolution. I only got 1disc. By all rights I should have been able to ask for the rest since I had already paid but wasn’t given that option. I would like to get this but I’m concerned about going through the same problem again.

Satisfying, but looks like a VHS transfer.
Why does this DVD collection look like it was transferred from VHS? The quality of the picture and sound is compromised and there is a ripple at the top of the screen as you might find in a VHS transfer. Other than that, I am satisfied. I first saw this on A&E in 1994 and remembered it fondly. It offers information on the Revolution that you won't find in later productions of the subject.

I thoroughly enjoyed the American Revolution on the History Channel and immediately knew I had to add this set to my DVD collection. The program is very informative and fun to watch. This is a must-see for anyone interested in the origin of the birth of our country.
