Bernat Softee Baby Yarn, 5 oz, Gauge 3 Light, Baby Denim Marl

This yarn was purchased to make a baby blanket as a gift. I have purchased Bernat Softee Baby Yarn many times in the past. There were three knots in this skein! I had to really work to hide them. I had an issue with the Antique White Baby Yarn last year and Bernat sent me replacements. I have not contacted Bernat this time, but I will not be buying this brand again!

I had used Caron yarn several years ago for a knitted baby blanket, but I have switched to Bernat yarn because it’s much nicer! It is softer and is a better quality yarn - Bernat baby blanket is perfect!

I bought this yarn to make a baby gift with. The skein started out perfectly until midway through my project I ended up with a "bowl of spaghetti" (photo attached). I spent 6 hours one day determined to unravel the mess. That is the reason for the low rating. I haven't used Bernat yarn in years and don't know if this is common or a fluke, but thought others should know my experience. I ended up having to cut the knot out and tie ends together after all. Also, there were places where the yarn was worn through in all those tangles.

Initially when I got this yarn I thought wow it’s super soft and it’s going to be great for making a sweater for my granddaughter. I wish I had tried to roll it into the ball when I first got it, because it is all snarled and knotty. The pictures show what is the fourth knot that I have come across when trying to roll this yarn into a ball. What a mess. I am beyond the return date for this which means I have wasted my money.

Loved this yarn! It's really soft and came well-packaged. The pink is a beautiful light color and I paired it with the white baby yarn to make a toddler hat. It's a light #3 yarn and and I doubled it (aka. used 2 strands) for the body of the hat. The white yarn wasn't doubled.

We were looking to match a color called "light red", which is midway between salmon and red. This yarn is a little more pink than we were hoping for, but it's close enough. The texture is very soft. The thickness is fine for our use, which is to make a blanket stitch in a contrasting color around a couple of couch throws. Not being a knitter, I'm not sure whether this is a little thinner than normal yarn, but not dramatically so.

I bought this back in April to have ready for a baby blanket. I have been struggling with it for weeks thinking it was me but it’s the yarn! Super soft but 1) it shreds! 2) it comes knotted together in several places! It’s not a knot you can undo because the pieces are tied together & you can see it on the project! 3) I couldn’t find the end piece and it has become an unraveled mess of knotts & tangles! Started a new roll from a different brand and no problems!

I’ve used less than a third of this ball of yarn and have two broken sections. I’ve never used this brand and type before so I don’t know if I simply received bad yarn or it if this problem is a normal thing.I didn’t return it because I am making a stuffed animal and it is easy to hide where I have had to reattach the yarn. If this had been for anything else it would have gone back.

I’ve used this yarn before, so it was as expected. However, I received three different dye lots for four balls of yarn. As I am using all four balls in the same project, this is disappointing. When I buy yarn at the store, I always make sure to select balls from the same dye lot. This is the first time I’ve ordered yarn through Amazon. Because of the different dye lots, I will not buy from them again.
