Not As Good As Her Other Stories . . .
I usually like to read anything by Eve Langlais and have never been disappointed -- until now. Although the storyline is somewhat unique, the writing style is too "tongue in cheek" for me (almost to the point of hyperbole). I didn't like the scenes involving the other romance writers either. I think that if Eve had written those scenes more realistically or maybe included more real-life details about the authors, their appearance in the story wouldn't have bothered me. But the way these scenes were written, I just felt like she was only making a mediocre attempt at writing them or that they purposely lacked the usual depth she gives to her characters. And if that's the case, then what was the point?~Spoiler Alert ~I also didn't like the hero that much. He's just a misogynistic jerk who is completely okay with treating women like objects to be used and he doesn't hesitate to deliver them to be raped and sold into slavery because women are only good for pleasure (although this slavery is thinly veiled as "mating"). He begrudgingly treats the heroine a little better, but I think that was as much because she confused him as she convinced him to do the right thing. He still didn't cherish her like one would hope, nor was he particularly caring beyond being possessive, which we all know is not the same thing as being loving. It also bothered me that the other women that had been kidnapped with the heroine WERE sold into slavery and we never hear anything else about them other than a conversation between two of the hero's fellow pirates admitting that they've been "sampling the inventory" so to speak. And the idea that women would be willing to be sold into slavery for a shot at one of these big purple warriors is somewhat insulting and repugnant. I know it was supposed to be funny, but it missed the mark as far as I'm concerned. I'm sorry to say this, but I truly feel this is one story that could be skipped altogether (even if you are a diehard Eve Langlais fan).

Not funny nor as good as the others in the series.
Reader Abduction is book seven in the Alien Abduction series by Eve Langlais. This is not a good place to start the series, nor is this a good book. I should have read some reviews; before buying, but I’ve been enjoying this series so much and was on a purple alien kick…until this one. I didn’t like the plot nor did I care for the characters. We start out at a romance convention and get to see several authors we know and love. It may sound cool at first, but the more I read the more it didn’t work for me. It was very hard to get over all the real authors mentioned. It felt like Eve was trying to sell us on all these other authors works. Then we go into the author conspiring to have fans/friends abducted by aliens, so she can continue to write her purple alien books. It felt to much like what the slavers where doing in the other books in this series, when they would captured and kidnapped human women to sell to the highest bidder. The purple alines have this same plan, but to sell them on their own planet. It's unsavory and just killed the purple aliens as the fun loving aliens. Then we have our 12 women who are abducted. Not one of them objected. They where all ok with this even our heroine, Brigitte. She did mildly object, but that doesn’t last. I didn’t care for Brigitte. Then we have our hero, Phyr, his mind set is just wrong. He's to demanding, arrogant, and forcing sex with trade offs. Not the type of purple alien we've come to enjoy and love. He wasn’t fun at all. I didn’t like Phyr.Last, everything happens within a day or two and the other women are not even mentioned or they are just glossed over and then deposited/dumped on the purple aliens planet. This one was lacking the fun abduction and banter that made the couples come together. It felt way to forced, sex slave like, and like the author is uncaring and disregarding for human rights. All the other books in the Alien Abduction series have made me snort, giggle and laugh my ass off. Reader Abduction was not funny, didn’t hit it off with me, and the author has killed this series. I won’t be reading anymore purple aliens. I’m not quieting this author, but this one was just wrong in so many ways.Rated: 2 Stars

Liked the others, this one fell totally flat because of the slave auctioning premise for the abductions.
I liked all the ones before this one but this wasn't good. The abducting of aliens at a convention and the author being complicit was horrid with no fun. Once we get over the beginning, the two main characters didn't have much chemistry as he is always going to sell her. She ends up wanting to stay with him? Why? Because he is sexy? Wow, I just didn't like the whole premise and didn't enjoy it at all.

Funny but not as good as previous books in the series.
Okay let me start of by saying I was a bit let down by this last instalment in the Alien Abduction series. Don't get me wrong it starts of with a bang, one of the funniest book set ups ever I definitely enjoyed the start of it, having actual authors appear in the book convention and having our actual Eve Langlais be the host of the occasion and set up all the single ladies to be abducted by the real purple hunks of her NOT make believe books had me in a laugh riot most hilarious plot ever!!! While our main characters Brigitte and Phyr were on earth the chemistry between them was good they seemed attracted to one another but as soon as he abducted her and took her to his ship things changed. He no longer seemed to be passionate and chivalrous but turned callouse, pig-headed, insensitive, selfish and just plain dislikeable. I had trouble liking him as much as I tried but he just kept doing such crappy things to our heroine I couldn't change my opinion of him if anything I kept disliking him more. Unlike the other books in which the male seemed to be stubborn and pig-headed they weren't really unlikeable or too mean to their leading ladies and eventually an emotional and loving bond happened between them with time, seeing the male lead realising his affection to the female and leading to a mating between them. That was not the case in this book, Phyr was just mean and emotionless, yes he wanted Brigitte was attracted to her but he was terrible to her, we get snippets of some sort of remorse in him but not enough to change even though were told he'd like to keep her. Until the very last moment decides he wants her and intends to keep her even tough they hadn't had sex in the whole book just oral foreplay left me unbelieving his affection for her as they hadn't spent that much time together as he kept avoiding her to build any sort of credible feelings for her. It just didn't seem believable there love story felt rushed and didn't build up with time like the others did even their eventual sex scene felt lacking, during he didn't utter a single word no 'Your Mine' or passionate endearment of any kind, they just did it and then he bit her the end. Even though I'm left feeling disappointed id still read any other books if released on this series as I enjoy this writer's books and enjoyed the previous 6 in this series, it would take a lot more to deter me from this amazing author.

Warp Factor - Purple Love!
Wonderfully witty and amusing shenanigans with the purple aliens - again. You just can't go wrong if you like a light hearted Rom Com in Outer Space. Absolutely loved the cameo roles played by my other favourite romance writers too. Way to go, Ms Langlais!

Things are never quite what they seem (Thankfully).
Book seven in The Alien abduction series is perhaps the most unusual, funny, and errotic one of all the series.Working as the Assistant of a certain Romance Writer, Bridget never expected fantasy to suddenly become reality....A good read, and very enjoyable.

Fun
A surprise beginning, an interesting twist. Great characters. But now I want to know how the rest of the readers fared.

Poor
Very disapointing, boring and short. The ending was abrupt and felt very unfinished, as if it was cut short.
