Good Tool
We are powered paragliders and wanted this for a trip we just did to Mexico to fly the beach. We used it every day and one pilot had an older WeatherHawk and another pilot had a different brand. Ours consistently read 1-3 mph higher than theirs.... however, we also got a feel for the wind by just looking at it every day and knowing when we could fly by familiarity. It also helped with reading the gusts and that is a big safety issues. Would definitely recommend this product.

A Must Have For RC Flying
A great must have for RC Flying. I Fly Ultra Micro planes to larger gliders. Once you get good with the smaller planes of today, you will enjoy flying them in the wind but you need to know how much wind is blowing to decide if you want to take it up. Very sensitive at very low wind speeds. Nice measurements of different averages with max wind speed. Temperature gauge is helpful in the winter as it may change your flying time due to batteries having less power in the cold. The cover protects the wheel completely, so close it and throw it in your tool box. Want more protection, get the leather case. Set it on a table tri-pod at the park picnic table or on a full length tri-pod at the field.

Worked Great
This thing worked perfectly. I bought it because my landlord provides A/C and she kept arguing that it was working fine because cold air was coming out, but I had to prove that while the air was cold, it wasn't coming out of the vents at any reasonable speed. I was worried that the air speed wouldn't be enough to spin the blades because some of the reviews of the cheaper alternatives had that problem. However, I was happy to find that this thing's blades spin very easily. In fact it is so easy to move the blades that they would often start spinning just from my breath, and I wasn't breathing hard or anything.

It gives good accurate instant readings though
The "Skymate" works well, although the wind averaging feature . . . doesn't. It gives good accurate instant readings though, which is the primary use I need it for.I fumbled with it pulling it out of my pack and dropped it on the ground the first day I took it out. No worries. It seems pretty durable so far.

Immediate response
This is a simple but accurate device with dual modes and excellent function. You can buy cheaper and you'll get cheaper. You can pay more (double) and not get much more. I use it for wind speed (ft per min) long range shooting with Nikon Spot On ballistic calculator . It gives me immediate response when I'm ready to shoot

Good entry level wind meter.
This is a decent wind meter for the money. I bought it to get rough estimates on air temperatures and velocities coming out of AC registers. It would be absolutely perfect for my usage if it measured humidity too. The case protects it nicely while in my tool bag. Mine did arrive with dead batteries, so that's why I rated it as a 4.

Very Good
I use it daily. I oversee work with man baskets on cranes in Texas where wind speed can be detrimental to crane and personnel safety. With out knowledge of the true wind speed you can put men in great peril. I have compared my readings with units that cost sever hundreds of dollars and the WeatherHawk was right on the money with the more expensive units. The temperature gauge work almost instantaneous and was right on the money with the more expensive units reading as well.

Cannot Change Wind Speed Units
OK, I am going to be the East German judge here. Right out of the package, I am not able to change the wind speed units. Following the instructions, I was able to change the temperature units, but the wind speed unit is stuck on Beaufort. I have an email into tech support at weatherhawk.com. Their response will determine what I post here next. Frankly, I am very disappointed.UPDATE: After 12-15 tries, I was finally able to change the wind speed units. I am adding another star because of this. There is an even bigger problem now. I contacted WeatherHawk tech support more than 2 weeks ago and have still not received a response. For this reason, the device will not get more than two stars.
