Not very often I write a “meh” review. This Ant Farm however looks deceptively larger in the pictures than it actually is. When it arrived I was pretty disappointed. My fault though for not looking in the details for the dimensions. My son doesn’t even want to use it.

I tried 3 different species of ants, ants that I know will tunnel in regular sand filled ant farms. They hate the gel. They avoid it if they can and will not tunnel. To bad its such a cool looking ant farm, everything else about it seems great.

Not worth $39.99. And came in broke. Now I have to decide it it’s worth the hassle to return it.

Surprisingly small. Can clean out all parts of it. There is a large part growing mold that can’t be accessed as it’s encased with a very small opening. The grass is not growing despite diligent care. Cool tunnels though. Like the light.

Small enough to fit on a shelf and not take up too much space. I would not put more than 35 ants in it at one time. Ants seem to be content with this ant farm and tunnel through gel. Was a good gift for Grandson, he enjoys watching the ants working away. One recommendation though: The way the hoses were packed applied a kink in each of them that I could not eliminate. I had to use some wire to keep them from kinking so the ants could get through them. Other than that minor problem it has worked as expected.

This was way smaller then I expected ! Especially for the price !! Plus it doesn’t come with ants so I ordered some and they arrived dead .
