Scholastic Success With Reading Tests, Grade 5

Great work book. Short easy texts, vocabulary that, i beleive, helped my 5th grader get ready for tests. She had always been (including middle of 5th grade) below where she should be in comprehention. After using this workbook for 1.5 months (i only had her do half of a section a day on weekends so she only went through 1/3-1/2 of the book) she tested above goal in comprehension at the end of the year. I recommend.

Used for end of grade practice testing

Great book! I used this for 5th grade homeschool. You can easily do a page a day in 15 minutes. It works on comprehension and vocabulary. The passages are interesting and informative. At the end of each section there is a quiz on antonyms and synonyms. My daughter loved this book.

My son is having trouble in his 5th grade class and this book is helping him get more practice at home. I think the reading passages need to be a little more in length since the STARR test are more challenging. This book has given him a better understanding of differences in the categories it offers.

These test allow me to determine whether my son is comprehending his reading materials. I ask him to show me via a highlighter where in the paragraphs provided he is finding the answer to the questions stressing the process rather than the the answer chosen. This works a lot better than having him read a chapter from a book and trying to come up with appropriate questions to test his knowledge. Here's to hoping our fall standardized test scores won't take the "summer dip" from last spring's comprehension levels for reading.

This book is one of my favorites for our homeschooling routine. The little segments are not boring to read. I enjoy doing them with my daughter.(I don't use them as actual tests. We switch off reading the little segments together and she answers the questions.) The vocabulary is a nice touch as well my daughter likes that part the best.

We used this over the summer for my entering 6th grader. He struggles with reading comprehension and these short passages focused on a variety of skills. I was able to pinpoint deficiencies, and focus on increasing proficiency :)I liked that the passages were short so he didn’t zone out! We did 2-3 per day.The vocab practice was a great supplement, although we didn’t use those.

Needed this to keep my 5th grader on his toes while Shelter in Place was happening, I think its great. My son not so much. Its great and better then printing stuff online. Answer key in back, thank you. Looking into more books like this, especially with the unknown ahead of us with COVID.

These are perfect. Just wish they went beyond grade 6 and had Canadian content. They work great for homeschooling!

I like that the tests are fairly short and focus on a specific skill. You can do a few tests each day (a small cluster) if you like.

日本で出版されてる物より英語圏の物で説明文も英語の方が生徒のためになる。訳さず最初から頭を英語にしないといけないと思います。

this book helps us keep our child studying and the subjects and material covered is perfect. sections are short so kids do not get bored.
