Great idea once you get the hang of it
This batting is an excellent alternative if you're one of those people who hate struggling with numerous pins on your quilt sandwich. However, there's a trick to using it, and I didn't get it right the first time, despite following the manufacturer's video to the letter. Fortunately I'd ordered two crib size and figured it out on the second quilt. First of all, you still need to use pins all around the edges because those come loose no matter what. But this batting still makes it easier to do machine quilting for the majority of working area. Secondly, it's critical to do the ironing correctly. The technique that worked best for me was going over it twice: first using steam on a specific area in a continuous circular movement, then letting that cool. Then going over same area slowly without steam, just pressing and holding the iron for 4-5 seconds on each section until you've covered entire area. After cooling, check if it's sticking by carefully lifting edges. If it lifts too easily, go over it again. You'll need to do this same thing on other side. Also, be diligent to notice if any wrinkles form on back side and lift them out & re-iron out before they set. Wrinkles are more likely to happen if you have a small ironing board, which unfortunately is my case. This isn't a quick process by ANY means. But it was worth the effort for me because I have a small sewing surface, and the batting helped hold my sandwich up to the constant rolling and unrolling during the quilting process. (P.S. When you first unroll the batting from package it will look too small, but it's not. Carefully unroll on a flat surface and gently stretch out to correct measurements.)

I've been using this batting for years and I love it! I make small reproduction quilts and I love the way the finished quilts look, especially after washing because they have that aged crinkly look. I hand quilt and it needles very well - no dragging. I also find that my stitches are much smaller with this batting vs wool batting or ones made for hand quilting. I've tried using other batting with spray basting - didn't like the mess and fumes. I've also thread basted with other battings - didn't like the way the layers shift, thus the quilting didn't turn out as pretty. This batting holds all the layers together very tightly, yet doesn't have a sticky surface when you touch it.

Wash sizing out of fabric before using.
I have always used Hobbs batting. You can depend on the quality of this batting. The adhesion is good. I have found one fabric that the sticking quality was not as good until I washed the fabric. The sizing really needs to be washed out to assure good adhesion. No complaints about this batting.

Easy to use, great for beginning machine quilters
Super easy to use and great quality. I’m a beginner quilter and bad no trouble with this product whatsoever. It definitely made the process of basting so much easier because I didn’t have to use pins. I did have to re-fuse a few spots a couple times, but that wasn’t a big deal for me. There are definitely other websites where you can find this product for cheaper, but overall it was still worth the price on Amazon.

Hobb's Heirloom Fusible Batting
I had never heard of fusible batting and learned about Hobb's Heirloom Fusible Batting on a YouTube quilt video. I read reviews; some were good, some not so good. Overall, they lead me to believe this would be a good choice for a wall hanging I was completing. I couldn't wait to get it delivered, I was so excited! When it arrived I dropped everything and tried it out. I was not disappointed! The fusible batting was soooo easy to use. Follow the directions and it is a great product. The thickness is great for a wall hanging or small projects but I personally would not use for a large quilt, just not thick enough for my taste. Great product and price for small projects. I would use again.

Worst product ever purchased
This was purchased for use on a 40" x 40" wall hanging that I wanted to have a thin batting. I've used other adhesive backings but couldn't find other products. Should have paid attention to the reviews. It took about 2 hours to press with a hot iron -- 15 seconds per location -- because the backing did not adhere at all the first try and had to be flipped over. (Instructions state "you may have to press a few spots on the backing") Even then the piece had to be pin basted before quilting. It would have been faster and probably more satisfactory to pin or thread baste in the first place. Hobbs is now on my don't buy list.

NOT WHAT I ORDERED
This item was supposed to be fusible, when I opened it I thought I had made a mistake in ordering it, but looking again, I was not mistaken - it’s simply the wrong product. I can use it, so I don't know if I will go through the hassle to return or not. VERY AGGRAVATING! (NOTE PICTURE: BANNER ON PKG SAYS "PREMIUM" NOT "FUSIBLE" as ad stated and what I had ordered!

Favorite for Small Quilting Projects
I really like the ease of the fusible batting for small quilting projects. After ironing you can remove it and reposition (ironing again) if needed. I bought this small size to cut and use for 15" squares for a free motion quilting class I took. Others had to use spray (which can gum up your needle), pins, or basted; this was much easier and simpler!
