Very nice.
Gold lid is a touch on the yellow side up close but still goes well in my kitchen.

Not practical, even if you don’t want to keep your spices fresh in the dark
When this arrived, I realised that my wife has far more than eight types of spice; this would be enough for a new cook, but not for her. (We usually buy spices in jars anyhow, as it’s not much more expensive than packets, so half the point of this set would be lost anyhow.) She had further reasons for not being impressed.“In all my years of cooking I have never used a spice rack, as dried herbs and spices need to be kept in the dark in order to maintain their freshness and not be sun or heat damaged before use. This rack would be kept out on the work surface, negating this. The black plastic holder does not feel very secure, and when you put the jars into the bottom holes they hit the work top because of the angle. The front is matt black, but the back is shiny. Ours arrived looking as if it had already been used, with some dirt marks, so the first thing I had to do was to clean it off. It’s supplied with labels to attach to the caps of the little jars, which are big enough to hold the contents of a supermarket jar of herbs. The labels are very small, and I almost threw them away, thinking they were part of the packaging, as the peel-off sheet looks like a large post-it note at the bottom of the box.The jars have a shaker top in them, so that the herbs come out more slowly when required, but if you need a teaspoon of something you have to take the plastic lid of the jar out. This is relatively easy to do, but I’m not sure how long the lids would last with frequent removal, as the plastic isn’t very strong. There are no feet on the bottom of the rack, so it may be advisable to add your own feet – felt, for example - to protect your counter top from any damage.”

Some issues with the rack, meaning that the jars don't sit flush
The media could not be loaded. I had higher expectations for this herb and spice rack when I ordered it. The jars are really good; quality glass with nice shiny lids. Remove the cap and there is a shaker I side. I feel that the set is, however, let down by the actual rack section. It's quite thin plastic and easily flexes. As you can see from my photos and video, the upper jars don't sit flush with the rack. As the rack is merely a few mm thick, they simply hang with gravity and, in the absence of a thicker front or a rear support, don't sit flush / straight on the rack. They push out quite a bit at the bottom front. To make matters worse, the bottom of the rack is curved at the back, making the bottom 2 jars sit on the worktop surface rather than hanging like the others. They sit straighter than the others, making them look odd compared with the 6 jars above. In terms of the labels, there don't appear to be any paper ones to write on, merely a sheet of clear stickers. It' unclear if you can write on these or they are to cover up paper labels. If you don't mind the above issues, then these are suitable for you, however I don't personally feel that I can recommend them.

A slight disappointment
This spice rack set comes in an impressive box that certainly makes it suitable as a gift. First impressions are good, as soon as the rack and the eight jars are removed, unwrapped and put in place. But there are a couple of niggling issues that make me wish the manufacturers had put a bit more thought into it even if it might have resulted in a higher price. This is very good value so there's room for an increase if the imperfections were to be resolved.First, the jars don't sit in place as firmly as I would like. Wobbly is how I would describe it. And the base of the rack needs to be a fraction deeper - maybe by less than 1 cm - because when it is pushed back against the wall, the top two jars are pushed out slightly, which means they don't sit parallel with the others. It's nit-picking perhaps but I do find it a nuisance. Second, the labels are going to be short-lived, and in fact it's not obvious how best they should be used. It's just a clear piece of film, that's all. In the end we decided not to use them at all. And third, although each jar has a fixed and perforated top once the lid is removed, there will be some kinds of content - such as peppercorns for example - that need to be ground to a powder and these jars don't offer such a facility. In the end, my feeling is that the jars deserve to offer more and I would be willing to pay more in return. As it is, it's a product that looks good at first glance and will probably prompt guests to say 'ooh, that's nice' but when it comes to the more important things such as everyday use, it comes up short, if only a little. A pity because it could be better so easily.I nearly gave it 4 stars for 'I like it' but I think 3 for 'okay' is a fairer reflection.
