This is a must read for anyone who wants to understand the chaos occurring in the Middle East and beyond. I replaced a brown, dog-eared paperback copy that I bought in the early 80s.At the same time I bought a review guide because I was not certain that I really understood this erudite professor of literature. Being 40 years older and having followed political events during those years, the book was much easier the second time.
