The reeds that came were decent quality

Good reeds but incredibly overpriced for cut bamboo

Vandoren makes, arguably, the BEST reeds. I've used them for the majority of my time playing sax. These Bari reeds especially have been amazing and have allowed me to perform as well as possible. I would definitely recommend these, especially the Red Javas over the Greens.

These are my personal go-to reeds as a tenor player, just picked them up for my Bari student... saw some reviews saying these are the hardest, and well, they aren't, in Vandoren's analysis anyway, these are the second hardest to the traditional reed. They have a very centered tone, and provide really good support, even on a broken horn.

If you have an open HR mouthpiece, then these are my favorites for Jazz; just the right balances of control, flexibility, and projection. If you're use to another brand, then aim low in strength, they're a bit beefier.

These seem to have the most good reeds out of the box and will last through a three hour gig too.

The one and only to buy

I’ve used many Vandoren reeds before but never these. I had high hopes as they are nicely made. However, I feel they are not for me, at least not in my Vandoren B7 mouthpiece. I find these have a stiff heart for the strength number and I had to file them down. I was surprised as blue box work fine for me whilst green java and jazz Reed’s are if anything a touch softer for a given strength. So, they’re not for me, I’d say they are like a more nicely finished version of a La Voz reed - which I also don’t get on with.

I’m sure these work fine for others, not for me, I’m going to stick to the standard blue box
