Fox 40Classic Whistle

I have a bunch of these scattered around - in my EDC kit, in the car, in my wife's purse, and other places that I can't think of at the moment. This is the ideal low tech "communication system" that gets attention in a hurry. I've also got several "spares" to loan out to others when the situation calls for it. Don't waste your money on the knock-offs - get the real thing. Cheap, extremely durable, super loud - highly recommended.

This has got to be the loudest whistle I have ever used. WAY better than your typical whistle one would buy at a sports store or at your big box retail store. First time I tried this whistle was out in my front yard and I felt the loud SPL from it in my ears. The manufacturer says one can get SPL's at around 115 db and I truly believe that.NOW I am getting a bit louder because of the strong lungs I have. As a sound engineer and a DJ, working in that field for over 30 years, outside my day to day driving job, I am pretty good at estimating how loud different sounds can get and with this whistle, I get whistles from this around 120 to 125 db.My original intention on buying this whistle was to use it for work. After I had lost my transportation job out of Tampa Int. Airport, and started a new one as a school bus driver, I needed something loud enough to get the students attention when needing to talk to them about anything if they won’t respond to my already loud voice. This whistle gets their attention REALLY fast and gets them to quiet down in a timely matter when needing to address them. *NOISY SCHOOL BUS* A quick sharp couple of bursts on this whistle and the students are quiet. That FAST!But the use of this on the school bus is not the only thing I use this whistle for. I own a 20 ft flats boat that has no horn and to keep buying airhorn cans can be costly especially if you use them frequently. The Coast Guard Regulations states I have to have some sort of sound emitting device on my boat and a whistle is an approved choice. This is plenty loud enough to be able to signal your actions while piloting a vessel.For the price and its intended use, this is definitely a great purchase for my needs. Hey… if the NFL uses this type of whistles by the Refs… It has to be a good product.

Best whistle for the money

This whistle has been really dependable. I have dropped it in the water just to pick it back up, blow in it, and it sound just as good as the day I received it in the mail. The whistle can be blown lightly when my dog is close or can be blown really hard and loud when she is 300 plus yards out. The ring that comes installed on the whistle is heavy duty. There is no worry of it coming off my lanyard.

Good whistle pretty loud but more on the expensive side of things

Its way to loud. I mean it is good for referees, like my brother who says that it is so loud that the players could hear him from the other side of the pitch. But do not give a kid. This is because my nephew got ahold of the whistle, and we almost got deafened because he really knows how to blow. I think it is just because he blew at full power, maybe kids can use it? I don't really know so yeah that's it.
