Neither the best nor the worst
It's an Aliens story about a kid running away from Aliens with the help of first his mother and then various soldiers. It tries for a few emotional chords here and there, but the above description is mostly what you're going to get. The author tried to have it from the point of view of a 12-year-old boy, make it a coming-of-age story. The reason why it doesn't work for me is that we never really know much about the boy, what makes him tick, what goes on in his mind beyond needing to get away from the Aliens and missing his mom, who dies early on in the book. Some thought-captions here and there would have really helped to flesh him out a little more. What is the depth of his sorrow for what happened? How did he feel about the colony both before and after the Aliens came for him? How does he feel about the soldiers trying to rescue him? If the author didn't want to go the route of internal monologue, then maybe he could have had his mother last a little longer, or given him a friend to talk to in order to express these thoughts. I don't expect three-dimensional characterization in an 80-page comic that will probably take most people less than 20 minutes to read, but many of the best Aliens comics from the past: Stronghold, Genocide, Labyrinth, the original trilogy from Verheiden--they all gave their characters something that we the readers can latch onto to get to know them better, which made them a lot more engaging. The artwork is suitably dark and atmospheric, so it works in setting the tone of the story.I wasn't really sure whether to give this comic 3 or 4 stars, but because the story is on the generic side and the characters don't offer anything to engage us with their struggle, I went with 3. It's a solid read for the fans, but if you're just getting into Aliens comics, there are far better stories out there.

Solid Aliens Story
This was an enjoyable Aliens thriller. It follows a boy and his mother as they try to escape an infested colony. It's fairly well-trodden territory but it's a thrill-a-minute, has a great twist towards the end, and the art is fantastic. Aliens fans will enjoy.

Excellent aliens story
Great storyline, satisfying ending if a bit sad, told from the perspective of a brave kid trying to escape an infected colony.

Geht so
