What can one say about The Late Roger Rees and Chita Rivera In The Last Musical by Two of my favourite Musical writers, this was the pairs final full musical togther but it didnt reach broadway until 2015 where it didnt last long, which is a shame its a one acter full of revenge, lust forgotten love, it was such a blessing that the late Roger Rees could record his wonderful Peformance as Anton because he brings a terrific performance and presence to this musical, that I dont think anyone else could have bought so thank you for over coming adversity to leave one last gift to all the Lovers of Musicals and Kander And Ebb, he really is flawless and a perfect match to the intense and everchanging score and lyrics, Chita Rivera a Kander and Ebb Veteran excels herself as Claire Zachanassian this is by far a role made for such a tour de force Mixed with Rees this really is a lesson in musical theatre, you cannot choose a set of favourite songs as its such a masterpiece, as with all Kander and Ebb its to be avoided if you want something light hearted and fun you should also opt for Chicago if your new to Kander and Ebb but if your a seasoned Kander and Ebb fan, A Musical Theatre Veteran then off you go!!!!

No Kander and Ebb fan should be without this recording. The original play might seem an unlikely source for adaptation to the musical stage but they have pulled it off. More than, in fact. Chita Rivera is astonishingly good, quite rightly dominating the disc. I found the whole thing fascinating and future hearings will, I am sure, be rewarding.

On the first hearing I thought ,not sure. Since then I can't stop playing it ,to me it's classic Kander and Ebb.Chita Rivera is as you would expect,simply perfect in the part.The rest of the cast comes a close second.The story is very odd indeed,but the score is wonderful ,a must for any musical fan,you won't regret buying it.

Ordered with Woman of the Year to almost complete my Kander and Ebb collection. If you're a Kander and Ebb fan then you won't be disappointed.

I have long been a fan of everything Kander & Ebb (check out Kiss of the Spiderwoman) so couldn't wait to get my hands on this recording. Having now owned the cd for a few weeks, I still can't stop listening to it and seem to discover something new each time. Such a terrific cast, effortlessly singing their way throught the gorgeous score. The story is captivating enough, however, when told by such theatrical luminaries as Chita Rivera and Roger Rees (RIP), it sparkles. I wish I had seen the show in its full glory and hope we get to enjoy a staging here in the UK very soon (this would be amazing @ the Donmar Warehouse). A classy recording of a truly magical score - well worth a visit!
