For something so simple, it works perfectly.
I am impressed! This "thing" works exactly as it's supposed to. It took me perhaps 15 minutes to install the exhaust adapter (somewhat unusual situation, so it could take others a lot less time if all was "normal"), which remains in place on the generator's exhaust pipe. All the pieces fit together precisely, so that once the exhaust adapter is installed, it takes maybe 5 minutes to install the whole thing--and it works! It quiets the generator a little, but most important, it diverts the generator exhaust about 10' above the normal exhaust pipe outlet. The recommended test, of seeing if a small piece of paper will travel upwards inside it, worked exactly as predicted--perfectly.Some comments:>The curved steel part that is attached to the exhaust adapter gets really hot. Keep pets and children away! Not sure how, but I'm thinking some sort of protective shield might be a good idea. It stays hot, well after the generator has been shut down, so no one should get anxious to demount the system too quickly. I didn't time it, but I'd guess it was a good 5 minutes before I could leave my fingers on it.> The plastic piping never gets too hot to touch. My first test run was for about 15 minutes with the generator running and the RV's air conditioner loading it. The ambient temperature during the test was about 95 degrees. Yet I could touch the plastic pipe anywhere that I chose to.>I can't imagine making one as inexpensively as this one costs, while still trusting it to do the job. I'm a DIY person, so I priced pipe and pieces some time ago, and if my time is worth more than 25 cents/hour, I couldn't duplicate as good a one for the money.

Works with Onan 5500 Generator
Easy to install and remove. I'm using this for my Winnebago class A 5500 Onan generator. I had a generator transfer switch ($450) added to my house power panel and now using my RV generator for the house emergency power, and it powers almost everything except 240 circuits. The Camco Gen-Turi RV Generator Exhaust Venting System allows me to keep the exhaust away from our and neighbors houses. Excellent purchase.

One of the most useful RV add-ons
RV generators can be loud and smelly. The Gen-turi gets those odors, and to a lesser extent, noise, up up and away, away from you and your neighbors. You simply attach the appropriate adaptor for the diameter of your genny's exhaust tube (several are included with the kit), and slip the plastic tubes together and attach to the 90-degree elbow. You might think the tubes would be subject to melting or whatnot, but by the time the exhaust hits them, it's been cooled enough to not do any harm. The venturi effect mixes cold air in and routes everything up to above your RVs roofline. They even include a handy carrying bag for the plastic piping.Yeah, you could probably DIY something just like this, but by the time you've run around to Home Depot or Lowes, bought all the pipes and connectors and stuff, it's just easier to get this kit all ready to go. Highly recommended.

Does what it purports to do.... and does it well.
Gen-Turi type generator exhaust systems should be required by ALL motorcoach groups who have coaches closely parked in dry camping. We have been to some rallys like FMCA and Monaco International and expected that these devices would be mandatory for all dry camping coaches, but were amazed to find that they don't require them, and that is a real disappointment!!! The CAMCO Gen-Turi is a high quality unit that is well worth the price. The basic unit fits on the generator exhaust pipe and directs the diesel exhaust up to the top of the coach and off into the atmosphere, rather than pumping out the diesel fumes right into your neighbor's likely two easy chairs for a glass of wine or beer, and covered awning area. It is extremely discourteous, in my opinion, to just run the generator without the Gen-Turi and you "run off" the neighbors with your fumes. The one part of this system that is simply over-priced is the upper extension. My coach is pretty tall and the basic unit does not get the fumes above the coach. I read that you can find thin wall, 4" PVC pipe at any big box home supply store to add the extension. This is much cheaper than buying the CAMCO extension. i bought a 8' joint, used the flaired end, cut it so it would be above the coach and threw the rest away. The Gen-Turi is made well, high quality, and appears like it will work a long time. It also have its own storage bag which is a very nice feature as even a good running generator will generate a good deal of soot after a few hours use.

Works great. No more emission under the RV from the generator while parked
This exhaust vent is easy to install and works great. It allows air to come in from the bottom to help force the exhaust upward above the camper. It seems to quiet down the sound some too. Make sure you allow it to cool before you remove it from the camper as it does get quite warm as you would expect.
