Works great for rocky Caliche and digging through roots.
When I was a kid every old guy in the valley had one of these. With a kid, a grub hoe, some soda and pocket change, you had a roto-tiller- only cheaper. Need sprinkler trenches, choose an older kid and you had a trencher. I remember this tool made quick work of California clay.Have not had a chance to use it too much yet, but it is way easy to use in the AZ caliche - and the handle has not broken while prying out rocks. My slight concern was the edge, but I took a grinder to it and cleaned it up before use. Chops most roots in a single blow. Starting the chore using spades, I broke two on small rocks before I ordered this. One worry is the handle, no problems there yet, but I will be glueing the rubber grip as it will slip under use. Possible worry will be the handle. if you trench and allow rocks to impact the handle I imagine it will degrade rather quickly. compared to ash. Thanks for a nice tool

Eye hoe with fiberglass handle
This hoe is a traditional tool used in Asia for digging and removing weeds. It has sufficient weight (4.5 lb) to dig and the long handle allows me to do job without bending. The hoe is made of forged iron and is sturdy. Previously, the hoes I bought from hardware stores were like pieces of toys. They are too light and do not dig. As for this hoe, the only thing I worry about is the connection of hoe and the handle is not tightened by wedges. The manufacturer said it would tighten itself but I felt wiggling after use. As a result, the hoe ring cuts the handle a little. I will wait and see if it lasts. So far, I am happy about it and I'd give it 5 stars.

Eye Hoe with Fiberglass Handle
This hoe arrived unassembled with a yellow handle. You can tell the tool looks like made in China quality. But that aside it is a good tool. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars was the eye of the hoe needed grinding with my dremel die grinder. There were many burrs and bumps inside the eye of the hoe. I've bought 2 of these and one was worse than the other. Once it was all ground smooth, the handle fit well. Put the handle through the hoe eye and bump it on the ground a few times and it's on there solid. It clears weeds very quickly. If you have someone clearing your weeds, this tool will pay for itself in one day with the increased productivity over a standard hoe. The handle is solid too. Will have to see now how hard the steel is and how often it needs sharpening.

Fanastic
This is the single greatest yard/garden tool I have ever purchased. Used it to weed my garden and to make quick work of digging out a pond for my ducks.

Great tool for weeding and digging
Great tool for weeding and digging. Amazing price from Amazon. Very good value. I came from South-East Asia and this is the most popular and useful gardening tool there. Couldn't find this in the stores. Hooray for online shopping! Had been using a gooseneck hoe and hating it. Unlike the goose-neck hoe, this eye hoe has the center of mass in the same plane as the cutting edge and so does not bounce upon contact with soil or weeds. The goose neck acts as a spring, rendering the goose-neck hoe ineffective for serious work. Try this hoe and you will agree that millions of gardeners in the east can't be wrong. The weight of this model is just right for me (relatively small person), enabling me to work for hours without fatigue.

Great tool
I have clay soil in heavily wooded acreage. I'm constantly clearing undergrowth. This hoe is heavier and has a broader blade than the standard garden hoe so it works great.

Chinese Garbage
Head does not fit handle because Solidtools takes cheap Chinese hoe heads and attaches to handles they buy from some other company and they cover up they real name on the handle with a sticker.

Hoe works well.
I used the hoe for flatten out an area and it worked well. However, since the handle is friction fit to the hoe head the hoe head did not always stay put and would work loose and twist sideways from time to time and had to be reset on the handle. Maybe with more use the head will seat in the handle and that will no longer be an issue. Otherwise it worked well for me.
