BLACK, no longer "pebbly green"
I had bought 4 others over the years that all had a "pebbly green" finish. Although I used the "buy it again" function, this one came in a smooth black finish that is not as attractive (and doesn't match). I know they were out of stock for a long time during the pandemic and perhaps they just don't do the green anymore, but I am disappointed in the change of color and texture. Do I return it? Or do I Rustoleum?

> DOES THE JOB
EVALUATIONHeavy duty, simple, but well built. The three-armed knob makes finger tightening easy. I bought the hooks to use indoors for plants on a bench-like table in front of a picture window. They work well for the purpose, but for my purposes, I would have preferred slightly lighter construction, black finish, and a padded clamp.MEASUREMENTSFinish: Semi-pebbly glossy dark greenThickness of pole: 3/8"If installed on a table:Height: 28" above the tableWidth: 20" from the table edgeClamp adjusts for up to 2 1/4" thicknessTHE CLAMP> Essentially designed to clamp to a 2" x 4" to 2" x 8" deck rail, with no obstructions on the bottom side. If you want to attach it to anything much thinner or thicker (or without a continuous solid edge {lip} less than several inches wide on the bottom side), some ingenuity or modifications may be necessary.> There is a hole on the top side of the clamp, where you could use a large wood-screw (or even a bolt though the railing) for extra security, but of course, that will require a permanent hole on the top side of your deck rail.> The clamp is not padded: You'll need to make your own pad if you want to install it on varnished etc. finished wood--a piece of an old carpet might work well. On an unfinished deck rail, I suspect that after a season the clamp is likely to leave marks and even dents in soft wood. If that bothers you, you could cut a 3" x 3" piece of 3/8" exterior plywood to go on the top side between the clamp and your deck rail. In any case, a similar wood pad (or a big metal washer) underneath would help spread out the strain, and make it less likely that the clamp will come loose.OTHER USESA pair (or more) could support a pole between them, to hold a screen, or banner, or many small hanging objects.I like to see more petite versions for small plants, hanging decorations (bells, wind chimes), etc.

A perfect idea for my Hummingbird Feeders which are up almost year round.
I purchased this for a 2nd hummingbird feeder for my second floor deck which overlooks a park where hummingbirds have nested each year. This product is very well made. It arrived in black although it was described as " green". I did not return it because of the color as I was too anxious to get it up. This year our hummingbirds are in short supply (which could reflect the fact that the olive trees where they traditionally nest were trimmed earlier this year by the city & perhaps disrupted nesting). Hoping that two new feeders with fresh nectar, well spaced, will bring them back. As to fit, the shelf of the deck is 2" thick but the hook does not fit snugly.(see the photo attached). Still I was able to secure it well with the screw and the hummingbird feeder is not heavy. This allows the birds to be well removed from the house, with a clear 360 degree view for the birds and an ideal view for us to enjoy them throughout the day and evenings. The other advantage is no more bird poop to clean up on the floor of the deck.

Easy to use and very sturdy
This worked perfectly and the birds found it in less than 2 hours. I am on a third floor apt surrounded by trees and did not want bird doo_doo on the balcony. It attaches easily and is very sturdy. Birds will often knock the bird seed out of the bird feeder so several can eat at the same time by eating below the feeder. I have two large red colored cardinals that fight and a short white bird with a big stomach using it daily. Something hit the window the other night but the window was far away from the hook and the bird was gone when I checked to see if it got hurt. It has been around 32 degrees so the birds are hungry. So the bird house is swaying, but both bird feeder and hook stayed secure. It is great for apartments because you can take it with you when you leave. My indoor cats love it too as they like to watch the birds from the window (maybe it was the cat the bumped the window don't know). Highly recommend!!

Works as advertised!
I should have looked at the picture a little closer. It's on an angle which means the reach isn't as far out as it looks. I bought it to keep squirrels from being able to reach the feeder from my deck. It has made it more difficult for them, but not completely squirrell-proof. Other than that, it looks great, works well and we didn't have to use a screw to attach it to the deck. The clamp has kept it securely in place.

Be sure to look where this will be installed before purchasing!
Let me start by saying that it is completely my fault for not looking at the spot I was planning to put this before purchasing. The inside edge of my deck's handrail is flush against the lumber that frames the balusters. The only way I would be able to use this is if I affix it to the outer edge of the handrail, but that means the curve of the hook will have the birdfeeder/birdhouse hanging over the deck instead of over the lawn. The only way I could use this is if the clamp's mouth was a good 3" wider to accommodate the 2x4 (turned on its side) that's butted against the handrail. I'm not bothering to return a $15 item, but I will be getting this since I can screw it into one of the larger 4x4s from the outside. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HACGD2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DERI'm taking off one star for the lack of adjustability for situations such as mine. That said, it seems like a solid quality item so can't knock it too much for my own stupidity.
