Update: After more than 6 months of use this laptop is surprisingly good. No complaints on my model (R5+RX 560X) Some reviews mention lag, this is a very easy fix. Step 1: Update drivers, use DDU if necessary ( google it) Step 2: In Radeon Settings - System - Switchable Graphics - For each game you run make sure High Performance is selected. (You will need to enter the game and then exit to register in the list for you to change) Additionaly Windows 10 will try to force power saving on your gaming laptop. To stop that go to Power Options - Change plan settings - Select Switchable Dynamic Graphics and make sure Maximise Performance is selected. In the same list there's AMD Power Play Settings - Maximise those as well. Yes you're battery life will take a hit but you bought a gaming laptop so what did you expect? :) -End of Update- This is an excellent laptop for work and play. The AMD Ryzen quad core processor is fast enough to handle any task with ease. It's a very efficient processor that does not consume lots of battery power, as it's rated for 15W TDP. Battery life is quite good. The dedicated graphics card is an AMD RX560X and it performs very well in most games at 1080p medium. I'm really happy with the performance so far. All the games I play run very smoothly and look excellent on the IPS Full HD screen. This graphics card is comparable to a GTX 1050 if you're wondering. The laptop comes with an M.2 SSD for the operating system and it does the job just fine. There's also a standard 1TB HDD for lots of storage. I would always recommend you have and SSD for the operating system as it makes things so much faster. In therms of RAM it comes with 8GB (4GBx2) dual channel which is excellent. In terms of performance, this allows you to run multiple apps in the same time, you can game, alt-tab to browsing, listening to musing, download stuff all in the same time as windows harassing you for an update. By comparison, a system with only 4GB single channel would be crippled trying to do all of that. Overall this is an excellent laptop, with fantastic performance. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to work and play games. PS: Highly recommended if you get the laptop on offer :P

I bought the nitro 5 in the prime day sales after looking for a cheap 144hz gaming laptop for a while. There wasn't much info on the 144hz model but I went for it because the £750 price seemed like a good deal. So here's my thoughts after a month of use. Gaming results are solid the gtx 1060 is still a good enough gpu and will run most games at 60 fps with at least medium settings. Only esports games such as overwatch and csgo will be able to fully utilise the 144hz display though. At low settings overwatch runs great you wont get a better experience at this price. The display is just ok but its fine for gaming. Its definitely not the best 144hz panel in a laptop but for the price I paid im very happy. Thermal performance is poor and I think this model is probably the worst for thermals. Depending on the game cpu temps regularly get into the 90s even with max fan speed enabled. I undervolted the cpu by -1.15 which does help keep temps in the 80s without sacrificing performance. This laptop comes with 8gb ram in dual channel which I was unaware of when buying. For most games this is plenty only more cpu heavy games will benefit from upgrading but for that you will have to replace both sticks of ram for it to be dual channel. Luckily this is super easy to do on this laptop, just one screw and you can get to the ram slots. The 512gb m.2 ssd is super nice and unexpected for this price range, there is a 2.5 inch bay for expanding storage if you wanted. Not sure if there is a second m.2 slot but at the moment 512gb ssd is fine for me. Considering this laptop cost me £750 I can't really complain too much about thermal issues. This laptop satisfies my needs for a cheap 144hz gaming experience.

Have to say, as a long time geek I have had many laptops and desktops, from many brands (including self built) and I am really Impressed with this. Looks aside (which the pictures don’t do it justice by the way) lets start with the negatives. Erm, ok, so the only niggle I have is the keyboard layout and that’s a really small niggle. The keys feel nice to use, the led lighting is good and the screen is amazing. Performance wise, no issues thanks to the ssd for the os. Games performance is ok, about what you would expect at this price point. It’s. Its not breaking any records but for occasional gaming at decent resolutions it holds it own. Wi-fi is stable and not too much bloatware. Sound quality was surprisingly good. All round really pleased with it.

I bought this laptop at £800 what I thought would be a better option than I mac around the same price. I use it for paperwork and DAW software's with total ease and can happily play games also, recently playing Fallen Jedi and Call of duty, both running well with good settings and frame rates and with a decent looking screen. The bits what aren't as good but for the price I am not fussed, is the brightness of the screen at full and the loudness of fans, but was still totally worth the purchase. I'm happy I didn't buy a MacBook:)

I never write complaints or product reviews, like ever. But for £650 I must warn you all to stay away from this product. I've had it for 3 months now and at the moment I cant even play games as simple as minecraft without experiencing lag spikes and FPS drops. CSGO is impossible with horrendous lag spikes every 2-3 minutes. Even FIFA 19, I had horrendous lag issues playing on single player - I managed to get rid of it by installing the latest graphics drive update and uninstalling and reinstalling a few times but jesus, for £650 I shouldn't have to be dealing with these issues. My old laptop, which is a generic school laptop, never had any sort of issues with games as simple as minecraft so I dont understand why this gaming notebook has so many issues with so many games. Do not get this laptop.

Got the laptop for a present. Works absolutely fine but its advertised with 128 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD. It did not have the 1 TB HDD which is a shame because the storage is already full after installing a few games. Please don't advertise that it comes with a 1 TB HDD if it does not. Now I have to buy that separately.

I got the Core i5 version. It comes with SSD and HDD which is amazing. The Nvidia GPU performs amazing and also accepts drivers from Nvidia site directly which is amazing for the longevity of a gaming laptop. The keyboard is nothing amazing, but I do like it and it's a budget laptop so for the money I will say it's very good. Display also have very good viewing angles and good colours. Since it's a budget machine it comes only with 6GB of ram so I will recommend you buying "Crucial CT2K8G4SFS8266 16 GB Kit (8 GB x2) (DDR4, 2666 MT/s, PC4-21300, Single Rank x8, SODIMM, 260-Pin) Memory" It will make sure your laptop is a giving you the maximum performance and you wont be limited by the 6gb default RAM.

This Laptop is amazing. Booting up is quick, playing games is amazing, pretty much doing anything is amazing. However, the downside is that for you to get EVERY ounce of power your laptop MUST be connected 24/7 if you want to be playing games. If you want to play games WITHOUT being plugged in than you must make sure that it requires low end power AND you don't mind the battery being drained QUICKLY. Whenever I tried playing Rocket League unplugged I struggled hitting 30fps and the battery drained in just under an hour. ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING! Upon getting this laptop it DIDN'T use the GTX 1060 it was using the integrated GPU instead. However this problem was fixed after contacting support.
