A little overlap with "AA GILL IS AWAY" but still worth it.
Fantastic writer/journalist. From frivolous fun to heartrending tragedy, he will alternately have you giggling and crying. Sadly missed columnist.

good book
I dont know what kind of review to give here. Some type of provocative literary analysis? I mean if you know the author and you like him then you'll like the book. Seller what on time with delivery and everything was good with the condition of the book.

A.A. Gill wasn't just a restaurant critic he was an observer of life.
A.A. Gill gives you stories from a life well lived. Entertaining, funny and at times sad and thought provoking. He's able to convey a feeling and a connection with the reader.

A great book with funny, clever, surprising and wonderful observations about life.
I can’t believe he is no more - we miss his ascerbic wit and reliable restaurant and tv reviews - London is emptier without him.... This book brings him back to life for at least a little while. You will love it if you already know AA Gill and if you come to him for the first time, lucky you.

The really best of A.A.Gill
I am a super fan of the man ever since I read his restaurant reviews for the London Sunday Times many years ago. He has a wonderful way with words that makes one chuckle, giggle or laugh out loud. This book is a great example.

Best of means a wide range
I heard about Gill through one of Anthony Bourdain's shows. Thought it was going to be food writing. Instead, it was a broad range of columns written with an unsurprisingly British viewpoint.

Essential reading; witty, provocative, perceptive and humane.
Capable of searing criticism, which makes you wince on behalf of the victim, Gill is nonetheless the possessor of huge compassion. Above all, he writes superbly, witty, perceptive, provocative and humane. Not to be missed. A great collection.

Absolutely marvelous reporting
I found the articles, which are on many varied topics, extremely interesting and illuminating, and most enjoyable to read. I was genuinely sorry when I came to the end, and I decided to read the book again.

Direct, funny and so entertaining
This book is a compilation of articles. A A Gill was a restaurant critic for The Sunday Times and gained a reputation for honest, quirky and highly entertaining reviews which always touched upon the absurd. He was sharp, humorous, direct and a total delight to read. He gained a large and regular following; for the value of his writing and insight rather than the review. I was saddened by his untimely death and was delighted to find this book which collects a selection of his articles. He brightens any day and lives on.
