Solar Powered Window Air Conditioner

I did have issues with the product at first. We were able to figure out the problem, KingTec sent a new piece and now works fine. The motor controller was getting moisture inside of it and would burn out. I sealed the new one. Some of reviews I have seen here are inaccurate & unfair. This product is not a scam. Also, running a regular ac unit with solar panels and an inverter would not work as well as this unit works. I tried using 2 regular ac units that would cool the area I needed to cool and it took over 2800 watts of power. This unit does the same cooling but only takes 800 watts.Customer service was good. They took care of any issue I had very quickly.

Installed this in a 800 sq ft guest house in Hawaii and it keeps the place at a very comfortable 77 degrees on a hot sunny day. I installed with a 48 volt battery bank and a six panel array to maximize run time (16 to 24 hours). This was a such an easy install compared to the 2 split air units I installed on my main residence, no electrician or ac tech is needed. My only negatives would be how to service if the need arises and the noise.This is easily the loudest air conditioner I have ever experienced, but it does a great job cooling and it is 100% off grid.

You all need to understand what you're purchasing before buying this. If you're spending $2,000 on something you should be making calls and asking questions. Having gone to their site, it looks like you're getting a unit that just needs solar panels and it will run for you. Seems to be a built in battery to account for minor cloud shading and so on. The unit will run when the sun is out is what it sounds like. They are not clear in the description and I don't personally see any real use for this item but it sounds like an ad-hock solution for somebody and it comes with a matching price tag.

Too dam expensive! You can buy a 1000wsopar kit for about $1300 then buy a window a/c for a few hundred and your money ahead.... buy some batteries and a inverter which you would have to buy anyways and your done set it up and you prob saved yourself $1200 doing it this way then paying this ridiculous price

This product is a scam. It has no solar panels, batteries, or adapter to plug into household current. It is simply a 16,000 BTU window air conditioner that runs on 48 VDC. And it costs more than four times an equivallent 120 VAC. Anyone wishing to cool their house with solar power would have a solar panel system feeding their entire house including the 240 VAC central air conditioning system for maximum efficiency in air distribution. A 48 VDC window AC has no role in this goal.
