Great collection, great find
This collection contains 8 horror movies, 4 of which have never been released, including: Ghoulies 3: Ghoulies go to college, 976 evil 2 (the rare sequel to 976 evil), The Unholy, and Chud 2. This pack contains some great flicks, if you can find it. I had no trouble finding it. Just type in 976 evil 2 or Ghoulies 3 and it's one of the first results. I love the movie Waxwork, and didn't own it, but was about to purchase it. Then I watched a YouTube video, and I looked up 976 evil 2 and there was no need. Then dont forget Chopping Mall, Slaughter High, and Class of 1999. All great movies. All great finds. If you don't have any of those, or if you have all of them, you've got to have this set for the 4 rare titles. Recipe for Lions Gate 8 movie horror collection.-Fun-Cheesy-Scary-Rare-Hard to findThat's a winning combination that needs to be in your horror movie collection today.

AWESOME!!!!
I love these old cheesy horror films! They leave you with just enough excitement and adrenaline to have you on the edge of your seat. But there is so much hilarity that they leave you wishing for more.

Bought this for 976 evil part 2 and chopping mall ...
Bought this for 976 evil part 2 and chopping mall. They are typical 80's movies. Some of the others are very cheesy movies on this collection and not really my style.

Horror Collection
I first saw this on a review someone was doing over what movies that had purchased. As a big 80's horror fan and someone who has been known to buy some rare dvds, I had to have this collection. It contains four unreleased movies on it and the movies that had been released are pretty good as well. I searched every site to find out more about this product but came up empty handed everytime, even looking at Liongates website for information. When I found it on Ebay it was going for crazy prices but I couldnt find it on Amazon but out of the blue the product appeared and the price was pretty good considering it'll probably be 5 bucks at Wal Mart and they'll have ten or so copies of it. Anyway, Slaughter High and Class of 1999 are unrated versions. The picture is no blu ray quality but on my player that movies look brand new, 4 films per disc. Overall, if you're a horror fan you cannot go wrong with this set. I'm impatient so I had to buy it as soon as I could find it for a good deal.

Low Quality Collection of Some Fairly Entertaining and Cheesy Movies
I was a little psyched when I picked this up because I had always wanted to see Chopping Mall. I remember finding the VHS at a thrift store once and trying to play it, but the tape must have had something spilled on it as the wheels wouldn't move. Was a major letdown back then. Now I had a chance to check it out without blindly buying the blu-ray for $20.Let me say the only reason I bought this box set was because it was being handled by Lionsgate, and they put out some quality DVD releases, including the previously mentioned blu-ray of Chopping Mall. However, the quality of the copies of these movies is rather low. Maybe some people get a niche nostalgic appeal to that, but it was a little distracting. First of all, it's 8 movies and only two discs. Four films per disc. Only two of these are presented in Widescreen, while nearly all of them have widescreen versions available on blu-ray (I don't believe there's one for 976-EVIL 2, but there's a digital HD release for Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go To College). So 6 of the 8 films are presented in full-frame 4:3 ratio, and on top of that do not appear to be digitally restored at all. Just the same old fullscreen versions that surfaced at the start of DVD production sourced from the masters the VHS tapes were printed off of.Now, like I said, that might add charm to it, watching it in the same frame that you could've seen it on VHS with, basically the same quality without any physical errors like a wrinkle in the tape and what have you. Some of these movies aren't good though. Even in a bad sense.Disc 1:976-EVIL 2 - This film is kind of confusing if you haven't seen the first one? Apparently? Because I haven't? People call an astrology hotline to gain power and favor that they so desperately crave, but the side-effect is that they become demonic serial killers the more they use it. But the movie opens with a guy murdering someone, and then afterwards reveals he's been using the hotline? Then some guy from the first movie comes to explain things. It was a little unsatisfying and the end wasn't exactly unexpected but a little bit of a bold choice.Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go To College - This one sucks. It's more of a horror comedy, but it's not funny. It's really sad and creepy in the way that an alcoholic old man is when he talks about the woman that left him, and it's mostly no fun. It reuses even by those standards tired cliches in both the college screwball comedy genre and the creature horror genre. Kevin McCarthy is the only good thing about it as he chews every scene he's in and feels like the only person taking their role seriously.C.H.U.D. II (Widescreen) - So this one looks nice in the set, but it's not really that great of a movie. It's essentially a kooky zombie movie that rides this weird line of being pretty disgusting and just uninteresting and tame. Some definite moments. Don't regret watching it. Robert Vaughn seems to only be there for the paycheck.Waxwork - I actually really liked this one. Judging from the poster art, it wasn't what I thought it was going to be at all - it looked like that one film, Society, maybe mixed with House of Wax. But it was more sci-fi and magic, yet very much rated R. It's a weird balance of the horror and whimsical sci-fi and I really dug it. Zach Galligan from Gremlins is in it. Might have to pick up the two-pack on blu-ray.Disc 2:Slaughter High - This movie sucks, man. Just terrible and gross, not in a physical way. Some good gore if that's what you're looking for, but not really interesting. Kind of boring and predictable "bullied nerd gets his revenge on cool kids that embarrassed him" junk.Class of 1999 - I also liked this one. Its premise is stupid, but it's entertaining, and Stacy Keach has these contacts that are rad as hell. Basically the future becomes so riddled with crime that this school decides to use these robots developed under the military to teach and discipline the kids, as the kids are all gang members or high on future drugs. But they take it too far. They start thinking more and more like soldiers, killing kids in class that interfere with their methods or pose a threat to their secret, and the movie goes pretty wild near the end. Some GREAT practical effects. Might have to also pick up the Vestron blu-ray of this.Chopping Mall - This was a disappointment. The cover art for Chopping Mall is so brutal and interesting. There's a kill at the opening of the film that is shocking and wild. Then the remaining hour and change after that is really dull. It's "teens" trying to outsmart robots. Robots on tank treads. It's like watching a mech fight a bulldozer. Just not as thrilling or interesting as I initially anticipated, really letdown by it.The Unholy (Widescreen) - Here's one that's unfortunately one of the better looking films in the set as far as visual quality, but one that's not really all that good of a movie. It has a lot of neat ideas, a lot of obvious set ups and some genuine jump scares that it doesn't focus on at all, especially a scene near the end of the film where it just starts showing random bits of torture that I guess are happening in the main character's mind (or maybe his soul)? Interesting, but not entirely called for. It starts like a normal possession or unholy entity movie, and is pretty tame for a long time, trying to go for a more psychological thriller route rather than cheap horror. But it's shot like a cheap horror movie. At one point this guy has some sort of demonic episode in his bedroom and it cuts to him in bed, crosseyed and throwing up devil horns and it's the dumbest looking shot ever. There's some neat creature effects near the end, nothign amazing you need to see the film for though. Most of it's just melodramatic and slow, it's sad that it got such quality in this compact release. What could've made this whole set better for me would be if had been spaced out to a minimum of two movies a disc (The more you add, even with a DVD9, the higher the compression is gonna be, and the lower the quality of the audio and video is), and, preferably, Widescreen wherever available. Like I said, HD exists for nearly all these titles in home video format. Maybe it didn't at the time, and I could understand that - maybe they didn't want to go around remastering 8 B-movies just to throw them on a cheap box set. I think at least some of them were around already though. Even if it was 2 discs but they were double-sided DVD-9 with two films a side and widescreen, that would make the biggest difference. As it stands, it's okay as a collection of good-to-bad movies for cheap. It's not as cheaply produced as some multi-film box sets (See Echo Bridge Entertainment), but it's definitely showing room for improvement.
