Inspector Montalbano - Collection 9

Great series, but appears as series 6 on Prime
Everyone looks older, and apart from the light relief occasionally afforded by Catarella, everything is a bit grimmer. The quality of the image is great in HD.Our big issue with this is that series 9 actually appears in Prime as a duplicate of Series 6, so after we bought the series it was difficult to find, as 'Series 9' no longer appeared in the series list.

Good. but ...
Good stories and acting but in this collection the subtitles are rubbish. As an Italian graduate, I sat and winced at some of what came up on screen by way of translation. Way off the mark. Sometimes I can't follow the thickly Sicilian phrases, but mostly I have to translate for my husband. Could do much better.

Series 8 & 9 lack the enrgy of the previous tales.
I did not find either of the latest Montalbano DVDS up to the standard of the previous stories. The acting and production were excellent - with only one piece of incidental music which seemed to have no relevance to the scene it was accompanying - but the stories themselves lacked lustre somehow. Also in DVD 9 we were presented with yet another personification of Livia, who was very good, but one wonders why the role has to be taken anew so often! Also I think that the two latest discs should have been issued together as one complete series. Also Montalbano had little to do in the latest two tales as both guilty parties came clean without much probing!

Better plots this time, but still expensive for only two stories
After my three star review of series eight, the stories on this DVD are better, and there are many interesting yet ordinary characters - no Botox, whitened teeth, or fancy hairstyles here -. I love listening to the language, although one character's voice was dubbed. But I have the same criticism as before - only two stories, which makes the DVD expensive. However, I do like the new Livia.

Arrived Promptly and Safely Packaged
Ordered this as already have series/collections 1-8. It was supposedly new but came without an outer cellaphane wrapping. However it was fine when played and no problems. We love Montalbano, all the characters, the scenery, the intrigues, and have enjoyed seeing them all from the very first episode. Its a shame that collection 9,has only two episodes, but both enjoyable neither the less. I think they should have put Collections 9 and 10 together, but I suppose it comes down to economics, demand for the product and what you can charge for it. Looking forward to watching Collection 10.

Moltelbano goes 'woke' 🙄
My wife and I love being taken away by Moltelbano and his merry band. This selection of stories loses a star for the PC, I believe 'woke' is the modern expression, scenes badly attached to the first episode. UK TV is bad enough for bashing us with left wing politics: immigrants good, indigenous population: bad and 'racist'; without Moltelbano doing the same. It was totally out of place and was half an hour wasted of a great series.

Excellent Drama
Excellent Drama- The Other End of The Line was complex, a story of 2 halves like 2 or 3 of Camilleri's books, part social critique part murder mystery. The Diary of 43 was an sophisticated weave of 2 short stories blended into a very convincing story, sad and mature. 2 Excellent episodes, The Other End of the Line was similar in tone to The Blade of Light or the Snack Thief in the fact Camilleri wanted to put over his view of a modern political issue and built a case narrative into that, whereas Diary of 43 feels very like The Terracotta Dog, strongly based on things from the past taking years and modern event to trigger. Both very well done.
