So far so good!
So far so good. It's dark pink, not red. It works well. It only sharpens regular thickness pencils. Non electric, which I like. My other electric one of a different brand broke after little use.

Couldn't wait to try this out, as it was rated 5 stars and said it worked amazingly with Prismacolor colored pencils. Well, it DOES work that well!It sharpened the Prisma to a deadly, extra long point, actually as sharp as a needle, then I colored with it, of course I didn't use a lot of pressure, but the point didn't break, and it was great for fine detailing in a picture. The sharpener itself has a good weight to it and appears well made. Comes with an attachment piece that allows it to mount to a table or ledge and won't move at all when sharpening, though you don't have to use it. I also tried to sharpen without the mount, and since you pull the front piece away from the sharpener and it grips the pencil so you don't have to, this frees up your left hand to steady the sharpener while right hand cranks and it works terrific. I may buy another one in case this one breaks in a few years and they're no longer sold, LOL.. Think about it, if this can sharpen a Prismacolor pencil without difficulty, and Prismas are one of the best CPs for the price, but have a long bad history of breaking during sharpening, then this gadget is the BOMB! I'm sure it will work just as well with any pencil in the Galaxy.

Worked beautifully...for one day! Then it fell apart.

It's a keeper
This sharpener works great if you're smart enough to figure out how to use it - which apparently I wasn't at first. It didn't come with instructions (never thought I'd be writing a review for a pencil sharpener and griping that there were no instructions) so at first I didn't think it worked all that well, especially for the price. I had just been sticking the pencil in - BUT, when I realized that you have to pull out the front, stick the portion of the pencil you want sharpened just inside the hole AND THEN push the front back, well, it's been magical ever since. After a few spins of the handle, the pencil is su-uper sharp - so much so that I hesitate ever time I give one to my kids to use. I haven't used the attachment to stick it anywhere semi-permanently because with the pencil held firmly by the unit, I just use my other hand to hold the sharpener in place and it works fine. Overall, now that I didn't let the little guy defeat me, I am very satisfied, I would recommend to others and I would buy again.

Sharp, sharp pencils, easily
Works great-- I just sat down and sharpened 24 pencils in a row for the beginning of 1st grade. We don't have it clamped down yet, so it's a bit more fiddly than it might be. Of course there's a learning curve-- I had to read the instructions to see how to make it work, and I consistently forget which direction to crank-- but it works, and it produces consistently sharp pencils, not (as with our older electric one) pencils that are semi-sharp or have wood all up the side of the point so they don't work. This works even on cheap dollar-store pencils. You do have to clean out the shavings more often but that's a bit of a bonus-- less shavings to spill at a time. And not needing to find an outlet to plug in, or endure the noise of the electric sharpener, is a plus. We got it in red so it's easy to spot, but will probably clamp it down somewhere.

The handle is plastic and broke in 20 minutes of normal classroom use.

Sharpens pencils to a deadly weapon point
Wow! The Easter Bunny got this for my son -- must have seen how annoying it was to try to use crappy hand held sharpeners. This one works so well and is so satisfying that he likes to sharpen his pencils even when he's not intending to use them. It takes a couple of tries to figure out how to use it, because it is different from most sharpeners, but it's not hard. He even let me borrow it to teach a 4 week course after the sharpener provided by the school gave me blisters :)

Finally, a frustration-free pencil sharpener
The whole family loves this pencil sharpener. The 4-year old has sharpened every pencil in the house, and the 9 and 11-year olds break the pencils so they can sharpen them with this fun sharpener. We've never had such sharp points. It's easy to use. The clamp that attaches the machine to a table is flimsy and poorly designed, but we don't really need it--it's nice to put the sharpener away when we're not using it. This was our family's best Christmas gift this year!
