The description says that they have a one-way valve. The bags that I received are just giant Ziplocs. The 'zipper' tab is a separate piece of plastic that comes loose if you push on it too hard (you can slip it back on). They do function to compact your clothes, but you have to manually press the air out and press the seal shut before it sucks any more back in. The best method I found was to press the seal 90% closed and keep one finger in the gap while I pressed the air out.

We travel annually and for a long time and have to pack for 2-3 seasons, informal and formal wear. We want our things as compact as possible so we don't take more than one suitcase each and one combined roll on for toiletries, jewelry, medicines. Therefore on a friend's recommendation I bought these type of bags, although I was skeptical. My skepticism was throughly justified. The bags are aI pain to use and packing clothes into them takes 10 times as long as just packing them and then you have saved no space at all. Probably the bags result in the clothing taking up more space.. Roll most of your clothes instead. You will get every bit as much air out as struggling with these bags and your things will stay remarkably wrinkle free. Returned the bags as a total bother.

These have totally changed my travel game. If you know how to use them, you're golden. Don't seal them before pushing the air out. Don't overfill it. I carefully roll it and then press my knee against the roll till all the air is out and then while my knee is still on it I seal the bag. Its perfect. I can pack like 10 outfits in 3-4 bags and I have sooooo much room in my carry on still. I love these things. They have changed my travel life. I use these bags and have all my skincare and toiletries in travel size. It all fits with plenty of room to spare. Get these, you'll be glad you did.

I purchased this package of bags at the same time that I bought much more expensive zip-closure travel compression set. This vacuum bag set was a far better buy. They compressed better, I liked that I could easily see the contents because the bags are clear. The more expensive, fabric, zip bags did not compress nearly as well as these. On return home, all the bags had held up through a 2 week trip which entailed several packing and unpacking efforts. TIP. To help me know what I'd packed in each clear bag, I wrote a short list of contents and placed it so I could see it without opening the bag. Helped a lot! Great buy and I'll be able to use them again on the next trip.

I thought they were a gimmick but somehow they actually work. Yes they are like giant ziplock bags but do hold a lot of cloth and if i push air really hard u can fit a lot in a small bag, carry all in a small bag thanks to these on my last trip. Fit all my clothes that would go into a carry on back into a personal item so it was free on airline. The trick is not to fold them but make them as flat as possible, so to get air out fold them in a roll, make sure bottom is free to air goes out and squeese, even sit on them, once they all flat fit them nice like papers in a folder.

These are made to last. I have been using these bags for years. These bags compress like a food vacuum sealer, without the suction pump. These work by rolling up, like shown. Or, if you prefer your clothes with less wrinkles, put it on floor and kneel on and compress. PLUS Everything in these bags are water proof! AND If your bag fails and your things fall out? Not only are your things protected from whatever, your things are kept together like packaged meat. Just pick them up off the ground, no gathering every up in frustration, ugh. Much much better than compression packing cubes! And your can sort into a bag for shirts, pants; whatever. Even put together outfits underwear to socks; or bathing suits and rash guards. AND you can see what's in the bag!!

I bought the zip lock brand for a previous trip and one of them broke during the first use. For my next trip overseas I bought these and they all worked great with lots of use during the trip from location to location and they made it home with no breaks. We went to a cold destination in Europe and these came in very handy for our bulk sweaters and made it possible for us to pack less big bags. These are a great space saver for travel and I can’t travel without now. These ones work better than zip lock brand and the price is better too!

Huh, the weird valve thing on the far end of the bag actually works without any plastic add on or anything. I'm not sure how, so that causes me concern if this is used for months, but for weeks of travel these worked and no air came back in the bags during my various short hops. None had holes, so already they're doing better than the $#@! ziplock and Glad brands I bought before. Still, they're not exactly super thick plastic... which also has pros/cons because if they were thick, they wouldn't roll up so tight and pack so well. 5 star only because I can't think of a reason to give less at this time.
