This is worth it. Please read!
I had the worst mite season. I tried everything. From dust, to DE, and water solutions. Cleaned the whole coop and treated it twice, nothing.Every hen owner is suspicious of spending so much for eight ounces of liquid, told to be a miracle worker... my flock was in bad shape. My buff orphington was slowly dying, she shouldn’t have made it. She lost most of her feathers and the mites were sucking the blood out of her. This was a last hope. I mixed the correct dosage in a gallon of water and for the next hour or two I took every hen out and drenched them in the liquid with a spray bottle. I only did this one. I sprayed the coop once. After a week my orphington started acting like herself again, and I couldn’t find any mites on her. Even my Cochin was mite free with all those feathers!I know the price is a lot. And when you mix the solution with water it has to be thrown out after 24 hours because it becomes useless. But it is worth the price. No egg withdrawal periods and you can continue on as normal. You can sell a gallon of the treatment mixed with water for $20 to any chicken friends. And the eight oz of liquid itself last forever.I used this product on senior hens and babies that were about three months old.

Worth the price!
I used this a couple months ago for poultry lice in my flock of chickens. Mixed 9 ml to a gallon and sprayed each bird on the back right under the neck, under each wing, and on the belly. Then I sprayed the coop. Within 24 hours I could not find a louse on any of them. They also had nits, so I treated again in a week just to be sure, and retreated the coop too because you have to throw out whatever you don't use within 24 hours. My birds are completely bug free now. I will use it as a preventative treatment every 6 months because lice are NASTY and I love my chickens. The smell is very mild; I think it smells like damp grassy earth, but some people can't smell it at all. I couldn't believe how little it smelled. When my kids were little and came home with head lice, the prescription stuff I used to treat them smelled like jet fuel - or something super combustible and scary to put on your baby's head. This stuff smells so mild you wonder if it will even work, but it REALLY does. And no egg withdrawal. You will need a syringe of some kind (like what you get at the drug store to give kiddoes their liquid meds is perfect). I use the skinny little 1 ml one because I am not sure one of the wider diameter ones will fit into the opening of the container. It might. I have 30 birds and mixed up 1.7 ml in a 28 oz spray bottle of water. If you go over a little, it won't hurt the birds. On a chicken forum someone miscalculated and use 10 times the recommended amount, and her birds were fine. I am not a mathematician, so if my numbers are off, I admit I suck at math and used a calculator. But that ratio absolutely worked to rid my birds of lice, and it ended up being the perfect amount to treat my birds AND their coop with plenty to use and no leftovers. You will also need a spray bottle. Unless you have a huge flock, mixing a whole gallon up will cause you to waste product. You will also need a helper. One person to pick up the bird and maneuver him/her around, and the other to spray. The practice of hanging your birds upside down by the feet to treat them is not safe - their internal organs are placed in a way that this can suffocate them or cause them to aspirate on crop stuffin's. Get a helper, or you could possibly do this at a table if your birds trust you enough to not get away from you while you're holding them with only one hand. The product comes in a really small container. The picture kind of looks like your're getting a big old gallon, right? Nope. It's about as big as the palm of your hand. But seriously, with a mixing ration of 9 ml per gallon, this stuff will last you FOREVER. At least for years. You have enough to help out a friend once in a while. You could also split it up with a friend and share the cost. However you do it, this stuff is the best thing for bugs on your birds (mites too!), hands down. And it is definitely worth the price.

My Sultan hen was infested with mites. She was ...
My Sultan hen was infested with mites. She was lethargic and not wanting to move or eat. After one treatment, she was walking the entire breadth of the yard and eating with a full appetite. I inspected her for mites, there were none to be found. This stuff is incredible and safe to use all over the chicken's body. Well worth the price. Thanks to the Chicken Chick for recommending this in her blog.

Expensive but safe and effective. Get a backyard chicken group to go in together. You'll have enough for everyone and then some
I have a backyard chicken hobby with a current flock numbering 17. After leaving some hay and straw from the winter in the coop a little to far into the spring, we developed a case of poultry mites in the flock. This product was highly recommended by other experienced owners of backyard flocks as the safest and most effective treatment available. There is not even an egg withdrawl period. It was expensive but so worth the cost. Really works well and is safe (but do not let run off get near wetlands--it will wreck havoc in aquatic ecosystems). The amount I received would last me about 3 lifetimes. I've let all the local chicken owners know I have some and several people in our neighborhood have used some of my batch with equal success. For stuff like this it is best to go in as a group, you'll have more than enough for everyone's needs.

what is this gunk?
I bought this very expensive product for my chickens to have on hand in the event I ever have a mite/lice problem, on the advise of many others in a poultry forum I belong to. I have heard many others posting of receiving this stuff that is just a big glob in the bottle and mine is the same. No matter how much I shake it, it does not mix up. I have no idea how I am going to use this mess, in the event I ever have to. I no longer have the option to return this expensive junk. My only option is to post these pictures on my forum for others to see, so they don't spend $150 on this mess. A total waste of a lot of my money.
