It’s thick squares . Works well on my carpet, I am pretty happy about it and best price I found on Internet or in store so I am pretty happy about this product

The mats were easy to assemble and quite comfortable to work out on. However they are a little slippery, so you have to be careful with some yoga moves. Also the exercise mats sit on a berber carpet and the product does move when you walk on them. Overall it is a good product and I am glad I purchased them.
