I have used dolfin brand in the past but was flat. This one is a gull wing design and gets your boatt on a plane really fast. The only thing is that since there is less of the fin underwater it tends to drift at high speed in the turns.

It does what it’s supposed to do but I think one of the flat ones would work better. It doesn’t seem to have the impact that the flat one on my friend’s identical boat and motor has. Still, a good deal for the price.

I put this stabilizer on my 1998 17' procraft bass boat with a 90hp mercury.My main expectation of this stabilizer was quicker planing for faster out of the hole time. Fortunately for me It decreased that time by a couple seconds and made a HUGE improvement in handling and overall stability of the boat at speed. While running this stabilizer, the boat seems to glide straight through rough lake chop and wake like it never has before. It made my boat sit noticeably higher on plane which is probably the reason it ran through wake easier. I also noticed the handling seemed much more stable at all speeds and I could hold plane 5 mph slower than I could before. The trim seemed easier / smoother to adjust while getting on plane and the top end speed wasnt effected at all.Overall the best bang for my buck I've ever received from any boat accesories I've purchased over the years. 100% happy with this purchase! It even impressed my friend who was real skeptical about it. I call that a win-win.

I have an 18' 2017 Galstron with the Alpha one Merc with a swim deck. This was the only hydro stabilizer that would fit, and it worked great, greatly reduced bow rise and eliminated porpusing. Highly recommend it.

As all others have said, this is a great alternative to the more expensive versions. Installed on mid 80's Bayliner with 85 horse outboard. Definite improvement in time on plane, top end speed, cornering stability and overall feel of being solid in the water. Easy to install. Can't say a bad thing about it.

I have used these on three different boats, all over 18 feet. This stabilizer provides a noticeable difference in all around performance.. Your boat will trim faster, turn better and you can probably go up in propeller pitch to gain a bit more speed. I especially like the way it looks. Much better than others stabilizers out there. Well worth the money

When I bought a condo at the lake I "inherited" an 1992 rinker 20 ft runabout with a Yamaha stern drive. They no longer make them and parts are difficult to find. So when I discovered the power trim motor was broken the hunt began. The local repair shop had no luck. Found one on the Internet. $800. Ouch. Began looking for options. Friend suggested smart tabs. Won't fit my hull. Decided I'd wasted more than $25 on stupider items. Why not give these a try?So before foil. Wouldn't plane until 3100 rpm. Bow came up so much couldn't see for several seconds. After foil, will stay on plane at 2900 rpm. Bow stays down so I can see forward the entire time. For no reason I can figure out even no wake handling is better. Boat doesn't wander like it did.I don't have a trailer but boat is on a lift in its dock. Put on life jacket and jumped in and grabbed cordless drill Less than 30 minutes later, going for test drive. Maybe a unique situation, but what a great addition to my boat.

Installed on a 50hp Force motor. It made a huge difference getting on plane. Bow did not lift up high as before. Hot on plane much faster, It also stabilize the boat without drifting. Did not lose speed infact it gain a few knots. The Gull wings is definitely a much better design the then flat whale 1 piece with a curve taper end.

I’ve played with a version of this many years ago and it didn’t work like I was hoping.This one was considerably less money and upon 1st testing I realized the engine was mounted too low. So I raised it 2 holes and wow. What a difference!!Bow stays down, lower speed planing and faster hole shot. It doesn’t appear to have lost any top speed either.
