My husband installed the product on my Windows 7 PC. Install looked like it had completed but the installer hung. I had to use the task manager to halt the installer application. I rebooted, ran and registered the product. It "appeared" to do its job. When I rebooted again, explorer.exe and all applications that use the browser failed. That meant I could not even do a system restore (because on Windows, it leverages the explorer browser interface). I had to do an emergency reboot and by pressing the F8 key, I had to do an emergency restore in "safe mode". I called Remo for their tech support. Was forced to leave a message. No live support! I was able to do a system recovery and after an hour of frustration (being concerned I had trashed my PC and could NEVER boot it properly again), I was able to do a system recover. If you use this product, MAKE SURE YOU CREATE A RESTORE POINT before installing. That way you "should" be able to recover if you experience the same problem I did. Their tech support returned my call. They tried to blame the problem on my not having all windows updates installed. That is total crap because Windows was fully updated. Rather than spend time on the phone with them, I returned the product. There was NO WAY I was going to try to make their software work (debug over the phone) after having avoided a disaster. It was difficult understanding (communicating) with their tech support guy too.

First of all, it's deceptive. You think you're getting an app that will work without a string attached. Truth is: it's only for one year. Second, it doesn't work either quickly or correctly. It took the program 45 minutes to do a cleanup that did not cure the issues promised. It is linked to a series of additional offers that seem seductive, as if the program didn't take care of everything. It reminded me of a Ponzi scheme.

My computer was running very slow, sometimes 2 minute waits to switch sites and the Windows 10 update wiped out all my office 3 files. Remo Optimizer fixed the speed. It did not bring back the lost files. But not until after dealing with a scam. Here's how it works. The purchase was not made through Amazon, but through another on-line vendor. After the download, I was not allowed to activate the program until I called Advanced Tech Support. When you make that call, you do get your product activated, but you also get questions about your issues. Ian tells you that you have very serious problems and have two choices: Bring your computer to Best Buy or Office Depot and let a tech fix it in 2 - 3 weeks for $350 or let ATS fix it online in hours for $250. In the process of the conversation, you forget about the Remo Optimizer he has just activated. He asks and is allowed to take control of your computer so he can look around and better assess your problems. He then sees for himself how "insufferable" (his term and accurate) the computer speed is functioning and takes your credit card info. The work of "fixing" your computer begins and last hours. The next morning there is a message to call them. They suggest not using your computer yet. But of course you want to see how they did. Nothing has changed....still 2 minute waits and no Word files returned. Then I remember the Remo optimizer program installed and not yet used. I run Remo. It cleans my register and other clogged items and my problems vanish in a few minutes. Alright, I admit being old and dumb, but it is a pretty slick con on those who know little about computers.

I'm not a computer expert but so far apparently it has protected my computer

This is my first Amazon review: I hate this useless program. I uninstalled an HP printer and now have a DLL error every time I boot up because it is looking for the printer that does not exist on my system anymore. I bought Remo $50 to clear up the problem. I have Win 8.1. The disk says it supports 8.1 and the website says it supports Win 10 too. But the dialogue box that popped up after I installed it was very small, the text overlapping other text, making it unreadable. The maximize button did not work at all and the drop down menu had the maximize option grayed out also. I tried to adjust the screen resolution but that did nothing. I contacted Support by e-mail and they could not help or confirm that program is really formatted for Win 8.1. They advised to uninstall program and they sent me the program available for free on the internet, which had the same problem. I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall my program, which would not allow me to enter in the Serial License Key (because I already used it?). The box I was supposed to enter the serial number into was also too narrow, allowing only the tops of the letters to be viewed (the same problem as the dialogue box?). Does not appear to be usable with Windows 8.1. So I now need a utilities program to fix my utilities program. Will be returning this piece of crap tomorrow.

In spite of numerous interactions with Remo, who really tried to be helpful, I was never able to successfully upload this program. I noted though that this product unitizes a Norton product ("Utilities," apparently) that promises to do the same. Norton has a long history and a good reputation, so why not go the Norton website and download their Utility program. It only costs about $18, and check out their security and other programs as well. It was very easy to do.and really sped up my old PC.
