I have always admired Monet jewelry, and recently have started collecting it. I was thrilled to find a book written on the subject. The author did a diligent job in her research, and takes the reader through the history of Monet jewelry from the very beginning to the end. There are many historic photographs of many pieces of jewelry, and I was happy to be able to identify some that I currently own. My only complaint would be there are more photos of the necklaces than earrings, since I collect earrings in particular. Overall it is a beautiful book that a Monet "fan" would be pleased to have on their coffee table. I can look at the photos over and over and never get tired of them! Would highly recommend to anyone interested in this fabulous, well made vintage jewelry line.

I have alot of vintage jewelry books. I received this one today and was extremely impressed. I haven't read it yet but I leafed through it and it has great pictures and is very substantial. The photos are excellent and large compared to some books which show many items on one page. I would definitely recommend this book.

This is a helpful reference guide for someone who just started an obsession with vintage Monet jewelry pieces, like myself. However, I wanted to see a more in-depth write-up about the partnership with Anthony Ferrara. His metal mesh garment designs were so iconic in the 80's- 90's and are still very sought after today. Perhaps someone needs to write an update to this book. I would be the first to get in line to buy it!

All vintage jewellery collectors and dealers specialising in costume jewellery should own a copy; would be suited to many a design or arts student and public reference library too. I would describe this more as an educational text-coffee table book hybrid than simply a reference guide: Ms Vega's sources are impeccable and she has clearly been most thorough in her research. There is enough quality information and stunning photographs/ illustrations for two regular books, without feeling like anything is padding or fillers. The print quality and binding are a credit to Schiffer.If I had a small criticism the author glossed over the stark geometric and machine age link bracelets in the early decades, instead focussing on more complex and detailed series, particularly in sterling silver. I was also a little disappointed by the limited number of advertisements from the earlier period, given how prolific Monet was in self promotion. However I suspect this is to do with the low clarity of the available images because Ms Vega employs a wide variety of colour advertisements and catalogue pages from the mid fifties onwards. Maybe more from the patents?If you are browsing for a Christmas gift look no further, any enthusiast would be truly delighted to unwrap this. Even with a couple of minor gripes I cannot fairly give this fabulous book less than the full five stars.
