Bandai Hobby Pormelia Class Astro Assault Carrier Model Kit, 1/1000 Scale

Yes, I know this kit from Bandai is from the remake of the Star Blazers Cartoon from 1979 BUT they left the design the same as from the original series and that makes it cool in my book.Here is the first ship that was destroyed by the Argo just as it was getting underway.Called "Garmillas" by the Japanese, the bad guy's from season one of Star Blazers released in the US were always called Gamelons here. This ship is the precursor to the Cylon Base Stars from Battle Star Galactica which is why I refer to them as a "base Star".Anyway, as with all the Bandai Kits I have built, the instructions are ALL Japanese which wasn't a problem because the pictures are very clear and the build is VERY straight forward.This kit comes with precolored plastic in all the right places so, if you aren't into it, you really don't have to paint it.It comes with a yellow transparency for the underneath and there's lots of space inside the model so lighting is definitely an option.Another nice feature of the kit is that while it includes a miniature fighter plane in scale with the carrier, it also includes a bit bigger version of that fighter plane which is nicely detailed and can be displayed in front of the model on it's articulated display base.The instructions on this also include comparison images of this ship from the actual cartoon right next to actual photos of the model so you can clearly see that it is identical to the one seen on the show.The ONE draw back I found to this kit was in cutting and attaching the little L shaped "spikes" to the top of the model. The smallest of these spikes are each attached to the sprue on two sides so just cutting them free can result in lost pieces not to mention that trying to hold them for cleaning them up with a sharp razor knife can also result in the pieces flying out of your hand and being lost again. The eight in the middle weren't much of a problem as they are larger than the others, but, there are 14 more to apply and they vary in size. I had to resort to using tweezers to apply them which wasn't a problem but after the relative large size of the rest of the kit, these tiny pieces having to be glued in place in the right order? It was a little jarring. These pieces MUST be glued in order to make them stay in place.Very nice fit on all pieces of this kit and wonderful screen-accurate details. A MUST for any fan of Star Blazers!

Another high quality model from Bandai...superb moldings with no flash and intricate detail. Instructions are in Japanese, but with very clear step by step pictures to refer to for assembly. Includes full color detailed color painting reference, although the kit does not really require painting since it is molded in multiple, correct colors. It's a big model! Also includes the fighter-bomber kit as well, molded in 1/72 scale.A beautiful model set for any Sci-Fi or Yamato enthusiast :)

nice kit many small parts, all parts fit well will need some glue.

Bandai has done a very good job of recreating this model in scale and appearence with the newer Yamato 2199 (Starblazers)

Very nice, high quality kit. Got lucky on the price.

One I have been waiting for a very long time

新シリーズ「ヤマトよ永遠にREBEL3199」開始を機に、改めて2199を視聴しました。過去にまだ集めていなかったプラモデルが多くあり、少しずつですがコレクションを増やして製作する意欲がわいてきたので注文させていただきました。12年以上の商品ですが、中が手付かずの新品でしたので高めに評価しました。他の商品も良心的な価格でしたら購入したいです。

昭和のテイストを現代風の解釈にアレンジした松本零士らしいモデルです。組立ては簡単です。親衛隊カラーも魅力的ですが、やはり冒頭シーンのインパクトでこちらのカラーにしました。メカコレクションサイズの爆撃機も楽しみです。

キット化の発表は早い時期からありましたが2199版ヤマト1/1000スケールキットと並べても完成後のキットはヤマトよりかなりデカイです。劇中では一つの画面に並ぶ事は無かったのでキットでは、よりその大きさ設定を実感出来ます。　キットは基本的にスナップフィットで組めますが小さな突起状パーツ等は接着となっています。成型色も本体だけでも6色に分かれているので素組でもある程度、設定に近い形で完成も可能。下方面の円状に発光表現されている所にもクリアパーツが使用されています。　ディテールや曲面的な造形も素晴らしいです。艦載機発進口は閉じた状態のみで表現されています。しかしパーツ的には分かれているので開いた状態への改造も容易そうです。同形状のランナーを2枚づつ用意しているパーツがいくつかあって、設計段階でよく計算していると感心もしました。　航宙母艦と同スケールの攻撃機「メランカ」は2機ついており、幅約2.7cmの大きさ。　　航宙母艦をディスプレイ用のガミラスのマーク型ベースも格好良いですが説明にもある様に「 アクションベース01 」を使用するのも色んな角度で飾れて見れるので合わせて揃えたいアイテムです。　オマケキットのメカコレサイズ「メランカ」は幅約17cmと結構、大きくてディテールも細かくなかなか良い出来と思いました。スケールは メカコレクションNO.21 コスモゼロ52 に合わせているそうです。　成型色もクリアパーツを含めて4色に色分けされています。さすがに機体上部の迷彩部分までは色分けされてませんので是非とも塗装したい点。正確にはコクピット的な部分も設定とは異なる色のクリアパーツなので合わせて色を塗って完成させたい所です。　　それにしてもヤマト2199のメカはキットの大きさにしてもガミラス側が充実しているのは嬉しいやら悲しいやら。その大きさに伴い定価も高くなっているのが少し苦しいですが精度も上がってるので良しとします。　なにより、次々と毎月のように新商品化されるのは本当にヤマトメカ好きには嬉しい出来事。 Hobby JAPAN 2013年 06月号 での開発者インタビューにもありましたが今回の脇役的なメカがどれだけ売れるかで今後のラインナップを見定められるそうです。　積み上げにならないよう毎度完成させて全てのメカがキット化されるように応援してゆきたいですね。 アクションベース01メカコレクションNO.21 コスモゼロ52Hobby JAPAN 2013年 06月号
