Personal Training with Jackie: Crunch-Free Xtreme Abs

I love the two 15-minute doable workouts.
I started exercising regularly about 3 months ago. I used to hate working out but I just got so fed up with being out of shape that I made up my mind to stop being a procrastinator and finally start taking care of my body. This DVD made that transition from being a sedentary person to someone who exercises roughly every other day for 30 minutes. I love that this DVD is broken up into 2 sections that are about 15 minutes each. The first section is a standing abs workout and the second is a floor abs workout. Both use weights (I use 3 lb weights) and are doable for beginners. They are still challenging after about 3 months of regularly doing them about twice a week--I also use other DVDs and workout with weights. I use 6 lb weights every now and then to make this workout more challenging for certain moves. The toughest moves are planks and burpees. Those are in the floor section of the DVD but you will get better at them over time. They are still difficult for me but I just do the best I can. When I'm really low on energy, I will sometimes only do one of the two routines for 15 minutes. It's better than doing nothing and skipping a workout day. I really like Jackie Warner's style. She motivates me and makes working out fun. I'm very happy with the results I've gotten over the last 3 months and see myself doing this workout for many, many more months if not years. I am a woman in my early 40s with three young kids and I do this workout at night after they go to bed. My post-baby tummy is getting flat again!

About 30 minutes of workout
I was looking for standing abs routines and came across this DVD. I would rate this higher if the current price at the time of this review wasn't around $20 for a new DVD. It has 2 abs workouts each around 15 minutes long for total of 30 minutes. One routine is standing which is why I purchased it. I am happy with the workout and happy I bought it used as I think the price for the new one and only 30 minutes of actual workout (for me only 15 minutes as I only wanted the standing workout) is a bit high. Outside of the price for new DVD if you want a reasonably good 15 minute abs workout this is a good choice. The standing workout is also great for other parts of your body. I wish it would go a main menu rather than the intro which I have to fast forward through before I can choose the workout I want. And yes there is also that warning about pirating the video which I also have to fast forward through. This DVD is from 2010 so the video quality is okay but not stellar so again, to me not worth $20 as it's years old and you can watch free abs routines on YouTube for free. Outside of the price and not being able to go directly to the main menu this DVD is okay. I'm glad I purchased it used because I would not have been happy to pay $20 for a 15 minute routine.

You will see results!
There are plenty of other great detailed reviews on this DVD that I don't need to repeat them here. However, if you want to know if this particular workout DVD will show you result, then my answer is YES. You will feel it after the first time and notice a difference the next morning after your body has had a night of rest. If you do this workout every other day or just 2 days a week (give those muscles time to rest), you will notice results because there is not a muscle that makes up your core that does not get attention in this workout. My advice is take your time and focus on the forms to get them right. No need to keep up with any counting, just do what you can within the one minute time frame allocated -- focus on your form. You will notice that the constant transition from one move the the next will keep your heart rate up, so you really do get a good aerobics workout in the process. My husband agreed to do this workout with me one day (mainly because he noticed the muscle definition starting to show on my stomach after 1 week) and he was huffing and puffing like you wouldn't believe -- he runs a lot and plays soccer, but this workout kicked his butt, he admitted. He just couldn't believe how sore he was the next day (back of his shoulders, his back muscles, buttocks, and stomach area). There are plenty of core workout DVDs out there, but if you want to see result, you should definitely give this Xtreme Abs workout a place in your workout rotation. This was definitely money well spent for me.

Good workout, especially for the price
I had been using Jackie's power circuit routine for awhile (along with other exercise dvds), and wanted to try something else of hers. If you don't like hard workouts, Jackie is NOT for you. The crunchless abs workout is split into two 15 minute sessions, that you can also do back to back. The first is the standing routine, which is moderately challenging. I feel that this routine will be great for toning, but if you are looking to lose weight and develop your mid-section, it probably won't do much. The second session is the floor routine. This is a lot harder! The first few times I did it, I couldn't get through all of the exercises, and a lot of them I had to modify in order to get through.Jackie does take the time to explain how to modify every exercise, and she gives tips on how to make them harder as well. Taken together, this is a great workout. If you are like me, you will be able to feel yourself improve as you get stronger and can complete more reps and not have to modify. However, if you don't like to challenge yourself, this probably isn't for you.

love this!
If you like JM's 6 wk 6 pack you'll probably like this too - and a variety of work outs keeps me motivated!! This is a great alternative! There are two 15min workouts here - one a standing abs routine with some great variations on run of the mill exercises as well as some truly inventive ones I've never seen before - the other is a mat routine which again has some moves that are new to me as well as some traditional plank moves. Each exercise is done for either 30 secs or a minute (usually 30 sec if you have to change legs/sides)As the title suggests there's not a crunch in sight (nevertheless a couple of the exercises get pretty close - but I can forgive that). The menu allows you to pick either each individual workout or to go through both back to back. The time flys in this (apart from a couple of the exercises which really are tough and a min feels like an hour - a side plank knee crunch thing for one!). There are an advanced version, suggestions to make the exercises even harder and a modifier version for beginners, so truly accessible to all! I've got a couple of Jackies other DVD's and have to confess like her style, not cheesy or irritating and she gets you working hard!In terms of intensity this probably slots right between L1 and L2 of 6wk 6 pk if you do both workouts back to back - its a less frantic pace than L2 but makes you ache more than L1 (really not helpful if you don't have 6wk 6pk!).

Great Workout for Abs and the Whole body
I'm new to the Jackie Warner dvds. Saying that, I am an instant fan. I first seen her workout on FitnessMagazine website. After watching her crunchless workout on there, I brought this product immediately. I need something that is challenging, achievable and fit my current fitness level. Although I am a woman 200+ lbs, I have managed to do both 15 minutes workouts (one standing, one on the floor). They are definitely challenging. While the two women are working out, she modifies their techniques to show how you can increase the difficulty. In my opinion, this dvd is for all fitness levels. One woman does the exercises without weights and she does the lesser intense exercises that are still intense. Every time Jackie modified the moves by making them sit down lower or kick their leg higher, I did that too. She does stretching after each section and someone who is super fit like her, then that stretching may be enough. I felt I needed more time to stretch my body, so I did that.If you are someone who has not exercised or it has been a long time since you have, it is a good idea to take it slow. If you manage one or both of the 15 minutes exercises, then make sure you do a few minutes of stretching afterward as the stretching she does will not be adequate for your body. Then I would suggest 2 or 3 days of not exercising at that intensity until your muscles recuperate. Stretching, walking, yoga and swimming are good. I'm not a doctor or trainer, but I have learned for my own personal experience.

Another great one from Jackie!
I have a few of Jackie's workouts and I like this DVD as there are some great ab moves here and each section is only 15 minutes long. There are 2 sections-one standing and one floor work. Personally I use ankle and wrist weights to increase intensity but there are also modifications for beginners so everyone is catered for here. One thing that I don't like about it though is that there is a great music soundtrack but it is not really used during the movements and I find myself using the beat of the music instead of matching the cadence of those onscreen-it makes me feel out of sync but I prefer to keep to the beat..Thats only a small complaint though and I would recommend this DVD to anyone of any level.

these DVD's are no good for me
i cannot see it because it is USA protected. I wonder why i entered my country of origin and delivery when registering when DVD is not suitable for this country. Why sell it to us at all? To make money? these DVD's are no good for me.

Totally addictive ab workout!
I love this workout! I don't work this area nearly often enough because most videos and moves kill your neck and then it's sore all day - NOT THIS ONE!!! The standing one especially is downright fun and I can actually get through it feeling just the right amount of breathless! It feels GREAT to work this area and not feel like you're killing some other part of your body. I feel like someone finally got ab workouts right and this is it. I love that it also works the arms a bit too. LOVE this video!!
