The item is as described and does it's intention. My problem with the item is it takes roughly 12 hours to fill. I wish I would have known before buying. If a person is putting these in their Bug out bag, they may not have 12 hours to let it sit. That is the only reason I give 4 stars. Other then that they work and they keep you hydrated from not the best water.

This is a great backup for the water supplies in your emergency kit and a great thing to take with you when traveling. The packets are light, and even though it requires planning to extract a full serving, this product can keep a diversion from turning into a disaster.I bought this for testing before inclusion in my family emergency kit. To test it I left out a large pot of water used for boiling sausages for 24 hours then added a packet. The water wasn't fully contaminated with bacteria yet, but it was greasy and about as nasty a source of hydration as you'd care to expose yourself to. The next morning I wiped off the bulk of the grease, cut a corner of the packet, and poured out about 12 ounces (350ml) of the drink.The flavor isn't going to beat Gatorade anytime soon, but it was palatable. There was a slight odor of sausage that could have been due to my extraction process, but my wife and I suffered no illness from drinking it.Update: A very pertinent bit of information, this kit contains six packets.

I haven't used it yet, but all the reviews and videos online show that it works just great. Plus not just boring water but sports drink!

Removes particulate matter from water prior to drinking. There are many microscopic organisms in stream and lake water. This removes amoeba along with bacteria and viruses. Must have item if you plan to drink dirty water.
