Long awaited, GORGEOUS illustrations, sent directly from the artist himself!!
I would normally purchase direct from the publisher, but in this case I happened to notice that the seller is the artist himself! As another reviewer mentions, he did sign and sketch in my copy!! What a wonderful surprise. This book is simply gorgeous. The illistrations have been beautifully reproduced, and has brought a whole new life to the sketches that I had been used to seeing on very old paper printed with old technology. I became a fan of Dope Rider from some old High Times magazines I acquired, and then sought out The Bus. This collection includes the Dope Rider collection, and a number of his other (more obscure) illustrations from over the years. Paul Kirchner is a fantasticly diverse illustrator. If you are into surreal, subversive, wonderfully scintillating comic illustrations, this book is for you.PS. There are two other books, The Bus, and The Bus II, available by this amazing artist.

So much more than a dope rider
I absolutely love this collection and I'm very happy to have my hands on it. The detail in every panel, the use of color and symbolism, the abstract and unique way of illustrating a story, concept, characters, places, and self exploration present in these comics can give you a lot to look at and think about. These comics remind me of looking through a kaleidoscope.

Gorgeous Book! Kirchner is an amazing artist, and even nicer guy!
I heard about Paul Kirchner's work through the YouTube show, Cartoonist Kayfabe with Ed Piskor and Jim Rugg. I've been a lifelong comics fan, but as I'm in my mid 30s, I totally missed out on Kirchner's work when it was released. The material and printing contained in this book is absolutely stunning! Major props to Tanibis for some of the best reprints and recoloring work I've ever seen. This book was a fantastic intro to Kichner's work, and I can't wait to read other works by him, including Hieronymus and Bosch. To add more icing and cherries on top, the third-party copy I ordered was fulfilled by Paul Kirchner himself! He also included a beautiful signed mini-poster/lithograph, and sketch on the title page. I would have been a big fan without that personal touch, but now I'm hooked! My only regret is that I didn't make the time to leave him seller feedback! Thanks Paul! You rock!Buy more books by Paul Kirchner!!! I know I will!

Buy the work from the man himself: pkirchner_45
Beautifully conceived, designed, and printed monograph from one of the greats.Between the truly exceptional reproductions / restorations, the very welcome closing autobiography (few artists write as lucidly and concisely about their careers), the little extras Paul personally enclosed in the package, and of course the quality of the work itself, this is an effortless recommendation.

One of the best purchases I've ever made on Amazon
One of the best purchases I've ever made on Amazon. I bought my copy directly from the artist, Paul Kirchner. He even signed and sketched the book for me! The book itself is excellent. If you're a fan of his other work (The Bus and Murder By Remote Control are my favorites) this is a must have. The art is deliberate, beautiful, and wonderfully bizarre. If you're into "alternative" comics like Charles Burns, Dan Clowes, R. Crumb I can almost guarantee you'll love this book. Buy it!

Gorgeous selection from a fascinating career!
I was familiar with Paul Kirchner's work when I ordered this, yet I was still surprised and delighted by its contents! This book is beautifully put together and a marvel throughout with PK's restored comics and illustrations. What I wasn't expecting was the autobiographical section at the end of the book, written by Kirchner, providing a short documentation of his life and career. As someone who is endlessly fascinated by how artists' lives and how their minds work, I was very pleasantly surprised by this part of the book! If you're an admirer of surreal art and alternative comics, I cannot recommend this collection enough.

Great book but not signed
Fantastic book, I’m new to Paul’s art but I’m already hooked! Unfortunately, mine didn’t come with doodle and signature as other reviewers said.
