Couldn't be happier
The bumper bolted right up to everything, and the hardware was included. All holes lined up , no problems whatsoever. Winch bolted up no problem as well. The construction of the bumper looks and feels plenty sturdy to me and I've been a professional welder/ fabricator for 25 years. I couldn't build this bumper myself better or cheaper. Plus it's got a thick powder coating which would be an additional cost if building my own. Couldn't touch this bumper in time & material or quality to build it.Definitely worth the purchase price.

Easy installation , great bumper
Super easy installation, no drilling.better get your big boy pants on; it’s heavy, specially if mounting a winch.Looks clean, heavy duty, plenty of gussets , nice welds

install was simple however a couple of the bolt holes didn't line up but I had enough in so I left those out.installed on 97 Sport Wrangler

Better Than I Could Have Expected
I spent a good bit of time comparing various Manufacturers and the front bumpers they sell. Jeepers are certainly not short of variety and choices; however, costs certainly do create limitations. Smittybilt's XRC Front Bumper is a good go-between for those not wanting to shell out a huge amount of money for something such as an ARB or other top brand bumper. That's not to say you are sacrificing quality for a low cost. Smittybilt has cleaned up its act over the years and does bring quality products to the market. Overall, the quality of the this bumper is fantastic. I was weary upon reading some reviews stating that the powder coat was hastily applied and that the welds were sloppy. With my particular bumper that does not seem to be the case; the packaging alone was extremely secure and well done. I had to cut through layers of tape, bubble wrap and a rubbery padding that was wrapped around the entire bumper. As soon as I got everything fully unpacked and set aside I took a moment to examine the bumper from end to end; everything was perfect. The installation would be a breeze if all you intend to do is install it immediately after removing your factory bumper. In my case it took a little over an hour and a half to install because I also had installed a 9.5k Smittybilt Winch and had to rewire my KC Hi-Lites.Just ensure that if you intend to mount a winch do that first because once you have it attached to the frame of your Jeep reaching the mounting location is impossible. The only thing I particularly didn't like all that much, which is a minor gripe if anything, is that the light tabs have a spot for you to ground your lights; however, the hole locations for a nut/bolt/screw are a bit close to the stinger bar--which means bolts/screws go in at a slight angle and become almost impossible to work with. I ended up just running my ground to where my original location, hence why I had to rewire my lights slightl to extend the wiring.

Overall the bumper is a good value but one of the d-ring mounts was welded on crooked at the factory
Ill start by saying I got my 2002 Jeep Sahara when my father passed away and he had a blue ox tow system installed on the jeep. Somebody hit me on the passenger side at the bumper, fender and fender flare and the person paid me cash for the repairs to avoid an insurance claim. So I decided to not go the stock replacement parts route. I ordered the Smittybilt XRC front bumper and it showed up pretty quickly. Next was the install which took about 6 hours because the blue ox tow bracket was bolted on one side using the 3 steering gear bolts that run through the frame and on the other side it had these small keeper nuts placed inside the jeep frame to hold the bracket bolts. You could barely get a combination wrench inside the jeep frame to hold those nuts while you loosened the bolts and this took me quite a bit of time to get it off. Once the blue ox tow bracket was off then came the original jeep bumper fasteners. Its a torx T55 internal socket. Best to spray the bolts with some type of penetrating oil and have a cheater bar handy if you dont have a breaker because they can be tough to break loose and remove. Next was Installing the bumper with the provided hardware and since all the bolt holes lined up it was a breeze. I wish they would have made pre-drilled holes up by the light tabs so you could run wiring without drilling through the powder-coat finish yourself. All-in-all the bumper fit good and looks good. One thing to note is one of my D-ring mounts was welded in crooked at the factory so I dont know how that will affect fit or function when using it to pull the jeep but otherwise I'm happy with the purchase.

looks good
Easy to install, but if you are mounting a winch, you need to install the winch on the bumper first as you cannot get to the bolts once it is installed.

Smittybuilt Bumpers are built for a Tank!
Have a 1997 Jeep TJ Sport 4.0. Wanted to update the factory bumpers and go with something well built with recovery attachments and 2" Receiver Hitch. This bumper far out weighed my expectations. It is built solid with thick heavy steel. It is very heavy and built for a tank. The box and packaging was overkill also, the bumpers and parts were double wrapped with bubble wrap, then wrapped with heavy duty material for extra padding and abrasion resistance along with reinforced heavy duty foam to keep from shifting and damage. If you aren't purchasing a Smittybuilt, then you are buying an inferior product. My neighbor purchased a knock off generic bumper that looks like a Smittybuilt, but I wouldn't pull an empty beer can out of the sand with it.I purchased the following items from Smittybuilt, and they are all built for a tankSmittybilt 76653 XRC Textured Black Rear BumperSmittybilt 76800 XRC Front Bumper,BlackSmittybilt 76654 XRC Black Textured Rear Swing Away
