While a fifteen-year-old girl named Marsha does have two best friends, she struggles to be accepted in school
Starstruck has all the elements of a romantic, adventurous young adult fiction read I would encourage my family and students to read. I am always on the hunt for clean fiction, and for the most part I found that Starstruck delivered the kind of read I am always searching for! While a fifteen-year-old girl named Marsha does have two best friends, she struggles to be accepted in school. She dreams of the day her prince will whisk her away from her boring world and her cruel nemesis. When a boy named Rigel shows up at her school, she is drawn to him, and surprisingly, he is drawn to her, too! How could it be the perfectly handsome, perfectly talented quarterback pays attention to Marsha? What I love about this book is how it picks up pace as you read and does not leave you disappointed. Thank you, Brenda Hiatt, for a great read! I am definitely going to read the rest of the books in this series : )

A GREAT TEEN/YA STORY GIRLS WILL DEFINITELY LIKE IT...
This was a happy oops for me. accidentally hit buy instead of a swipe to turn page.... but so glad i did. This is a book about those great days of being in high school and aso being a nerdy nobody. yay....member those god awful years? a girl who has been teased most of her school days since elementary school, haa that one real friend only, then another girl moves in and they become the best of friends growing up. then highschool comes aaround and we all hope things change.... Not for M.... she still gets picked on and tased but her frriends are there always....Things change when the new kid, new quarterback, and oh so hottie R shows up. M isnt the one to be all googoo eyed for him, shes had a crush so bad for some pther cute guy that never seemed to no she existed. But things changeM has always had this uncanny knack to destroy electronics. comps, cells, microwaves .... even digital watches... chalked it up to static electricity.... but when the new kid touches her...they both get a jolt that weirds them both out.this is where the sci fi begins.... i didnt particularly care for the Mars thing...but hey its a scifi ya book. i did laugh at the references of the books they had to read... lord of the flies to be exact.... had to read that in 10th grade too. like M...i didnt care to much for it either :) typical mean girls... snobby cheerleders... dorks.... jocks... all around hs angst.if ya liked the plot in Twilight...you'll like this too... i read it to my young nieces and they cant wait to hear what happens next..(me included)All in all, a great read. clean fun.. no sexy crappy fill ins...and a happy accident i hit the wrong tab :)

Good read, but does everyone have stutter?
Fair warning, this is book 1. I think this was a good read. I’m a fan of fated mates, or bonding relationship type story lines, and Starstruck delivers on that. It has that ugly duckling feel to it, where the unpopular, unattractive becomes gorgeous and interesting. What I didn’t like was the drawn out conversations concerning the royals, those who overthrew the throne, the importance of keeping the princess safe, etc. They became repetitive and I found myself skipping past it. What I also couldn’t stand was that everyone seem to have this stutter or a stumble for words. For example, “It...it was the same guy who attacked me a little while ago.” And “Is everyone...all right?” There were plenty of the usage of words like “um”, “er” “but...” from every character. It was truly annoying. The other thing I didn’t like was the lack of detail with the bond, especially with the scene involving Morven and the other bad guys. Something seriously happened when Marsha and Rigel held hands and lifted there free hands together to counter an attack, yet that wasn’t properly addressed. I felt like the elders should have talked to them more about their special bond and the powers they hold as a unit. While I am curious about book 2 in the series, I think I’ll wait a day to see if I’m still invested in finishing the story.

Looking for a good series, look no further!
I received the first book for free, and started reading it last Thursday. I had surgery in Friday, and was delayed, so I continued reading. I was truly disappointed when the surgeon was ready for me because I wanted to continue. The book had drama, humor, made you angry for the characters, and actually brought into the book! Don't know how the author did it, but it seemed like I was along for the ride. I finished the first book on Tuesday, bought the next several books in the series and is am down to the last one. I visited her website and found out there was another book after the novella, so YAY! I highly recommend this series and am looking forward to her other series, as she just got herself another fan!

Teenage Love
So first and for most I got this book as a freebie and happily downloaded it because the brief description caught me. I can say I’m so happy I did this book was extremely detailed and I loved ever bit of it. Oddly this book was in a list of adult freebies; not exactly sure why considering this is 100% teenage love and a young adult read, but don’t let that deter you from reading it. It was a refreshing breath of air from my typical reads, (boy loves/hates girl, something bad happens, sexy scene, happy ever after, the end). This young alien love, with many secrets and many people who want to hurt or save the princess has me wanting to read book 2 to find out what’s going to happen. Will M and Rigel stay together and form a stronger bond?, is Allister evil?, does her Aunt really know what she is? Guess book two is coming my way so I can find out.

Amazing
This romantic YA story starts off normal enough; nerdy girl, Marsha, falls for the new boy in school, Rigel, who is also the star quarterback,Drop dead gorgeous and way out of her league.Knowing that she has no chance with him doesn't stop her from fantasizing about being with him. Then Rigel, starts to pay a lot of attention to Marsha and when they touch, sparks fly – literally. Not able to ignore this intense connection that they have Marsha starts to ask questions and eventually forces Rigel to tell her what he has been hiding. He takes her to meet his parents so they can help to tell her their secret, that they are really from Mars, and that they emigrated to Earth 75 years before.Suddenly Marsha finds herself in the middle of a Martian political war, with missing alien royalty and the threat of dangerous Martians coming to her small town looking for the missing royal heir.Even though this book was written for a younger audience I found myself lost in its pages. Enjoying the developing relationship between the two main characters, Rigel and Marsha. Rooting for the nerdy girl to get the hot, popular guy. Then throw in the alien race threatening to take over earth I really enjoyed this book, and have placed the following three books on my tbr list. The author writes the mystery and secrecy well in the book, and leaves you dying to know what's going to happen next. The characters and story line are very well written and it's easy to get addicted to the lives of these teenagers whose high school issues are the least of their problems. If you enjoy YA romance added together with alien races then you will love this book.

Different...
I was half expecting the protagonist of this book to turn out to have magic of some kind - purely due to how many other books I've read recently where this has happened, so the actual story was quite a nice change. It works quite well as a 'teen' fiction book, and I enjoyed the story, although I found the ending a bit strange. I can imagine anyone who has been bullied by 'popular' kids, and has felt like they don't fit in, to enjoy the storyline. It's almost worth 5 stars, but as I can't do 4.5 I've given it 4. This is mainly because I'm not sure if I liked where the story was heading enough to read the next one in the series.

Teen fiction
I enjoyed this book and finished it although would not have started it if realised it was about 15 year olds. It was a typical story of self esteem, peer interactions good and bad and transformation of first love. I do find the boy being so good looking and popular due to sport tiresome as it reinforces message that this is what matters. Despite this I felt the school aspects of story flowed well enough. The Martian aspects weaved in later and still dealt with human relationships. Political Power struggles, parenting, growing up. It was interested that the teens took major decisions without discussing with more experienced adults because they disagreed with their strategy. As this was teen novel it was told from their perspective and therefore it worked out but as an adult I felt this was naive approach!Characters were likeable, romance was clean and not intrusive. I would certainly recommend it to teen readers as an undemanding, enjoyable read.

I'm not an habital reader of romantic YA fiction - but...
I was recommended this book (obviously by someone who doesn't know what I normally read), and decided I would give it a go, since it has science-fiction elements.Well, it was an eye-opener for me. Realistic characters and situations, a slow romance, plenty of twists, turns and cliffhangers, and a sci-fi core that more than satisfied my addiction.Starstruck is extremely well-written. Its plotting and pace are professional in the best sense of that word. I'm definitely going for the sequel. Well done, Brenda you have a convert!
