NOT THE REAL BOOK OF JASHER MENTIONED IN BIBLE
Yeah, not genuine, but written by some Kabbalist Jew of the 11th century, then it just goes down the bunnyhole of deceit and enveigled origins from there. Later used by some wannabee somebody spiritual in the 1800's and got incorporated into Mormon doctrine/ belief/ whatever. Then the lies and incorporation into other things began...(little leaven leavens the whole lump sort of thing)After reading this from front to back, AND KNOWING MY BIBLE very well to grasp "line upon line" and "precept upon precept", I can say with certainty this "Book of Jasher" contradicts the Bible on so many points, I'd grow weary of typing them and you worn out from the reading. Conclusion: this book of jasher is Jewish storytelling/ fable old wives tales stuff all cobbled together with some very clever rabbinical technique and stylistic approach. But, not clever enough to fool all and sundry. Don't be fooled, this book of jasher is fake and not the authentic BOOK OF JASHER mentioned in the Bible. That one, I fear, is forever lost to us, as so many others have been. Thank the Alexandrian Library fire, I guess.

This book is not the book mentioned in the Bible as the original book was lost. Use caution when reading.
I purchased this book just for another book to compare with the scriptures and I find it interesting. However, when reading this keep in mind the authorship is questionable and that the Original Book Of Jasher (that is referred to in the Bible) is a lost book along with the other lost books of the bible: Book of the Wars of the Lord, the Book of Samuel the Seer, the Book of Nathan the Prophet and the Book of Gad the Seer. Many original writings were lost as well.I read other comments saying this should have been included in the Bible: No, it should not as the original book was lost, which puts into question the reliability of this translation. Another book by this same name, called by many “Pseudo-Jasher,” while written in Hebrew, is also not the “Book of Jasher” mentioned in Scripture. It is a book of Jewish legends from the creation to the conquest of Canaan under Joshua, but scholars hold that it did not exist before A.D. 1625. In addition, there are several other theological works by Jewish rabbis and scholars called “Sefer ha Yashar,” but none of these claim to be the originalI advise caution when reading this book and keep in mind the original was lost which puts into serious question as to where did this Book of Jasher come from and which Jasher did they translate this from???

Its the greatest story never told
If you've ever read the bible you'll be upset about how much detail was left out! The book of Jasher will change your life dramatically after reading about the Fathers of our faith and the sons of the tribes of Israel. They fought battles with the giants and won nobody could defeat them! Its the greatest story never told! I'm going to read it a second time because it was so good the first time. Marvel comic movies can't compare to the book of Jasher!

Facinating details
If you like the stories of the Old Testament, you will thoroughly enjoy this book. Many additional details are provided about favorite Bible stories from Adam & Eve through Joshua the prophet. Although this is not cannonized scripture, it still gives food for thought. It is written in similar style as the King James Bible.Details are provided in answer to questions such as:When the floods came in Noah's day, why weren't the people who were shut out of the ark able to gain entrance into the ark? How was Noah able to gather the animals and how did he determine which animals to take on the ark?If Abraham's father worshipped idols, how was Abraham taught of God's ways to become such a righteous prophet? What was the final straw causing Abraham's father to seek his death? And many other questions are answered. I would highly recommend this book.

Great Book. Gives you historic biblical details that are missing from the Bible. One such story is the one about Esau who sells his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of soup. Doesn't make much sense when you read it from the bible as to why Esau would sell it for a bowl of soup, but when you read this book, you find out that Esau had killed a very prominent man who was hunting in his field and Esau was a wanted man. He was hiding out and could not hunt and eat. He was starving when he came to Jacob and he believed the soup to be his last meal on earth before he starved to death; he didn't care too much for his birthright at the time. Other fascinating details that are so very interesting. I recommend this book highly.

If you love history and the bible then this book is a page turner.
I cannot say enough good things about this book. It has seriously caused the people in the bible to become three dimensional to me. I don't know how exact it is in it's information but the thing that I love about it is that this book has made me think and put myself into the stories in the old testament of the bible and for that reason the bible has become more real to me than it was before I read this book. I have yet to find a place where this book and the bible differ in accounts....more like this book fills in some gaps. Since I also love history I have researched some of the things this book shares about someone like Joseph and Jacob and everything seems to align. I recommend this to anyone who has an open mind.....who always wants to learn and to grow and wants to see the patriarchs in the bible as three dimensional people who loved and lived and messed up and yet God has used whatever messes and makes them part of His story.

Useful for Christians
Half way through the book, I think this book is beneficial reading for Christians. It follows the first few books of the Bible, often adding lot of detail not mentioned in the Bible, makes it easier to understand the Biblical stories.
