Wow, I thought soldering was a chore till I found the hakko gear. Now I love it. I literally soldered up by hand 4000+ lithium batteries over the beginning of covid ( isolation issues) with this tip and I just replaced it 3 years later and hundreds of hours running and 20,000 solder touches latter. The first I burned through but my first other shack brand and Weller's never would have gone this far.

Con: the cleaning sponge in the stand tends to flip out when wiping the iron. A minor nuisance.** Pros: This tip, when coupled with the Hakko F-888D Soldering Station is the ultimate setup for my stained glass craft. This heats the lead came enough to melt the solder, forming a perfect joint without the risk of melting the lead came in the process. More hobbyists could do stained glass with lead came instead of copper foil if they used the Hakko F-888D digital Soldering Station. And lets face it, leaded windows (made w/ lead came) look so much better than foiling. No more "foiled again"!!

I had to replace my original soldering iron that I use for making Stained Glass artwork and wanted something better than the typical low-quality irons offered. I found the Hakko FX-888D and decided on it, but was stumped as to which of the many available tips to purchase for SG work. I bought a multi-set that had a couple smaller chisel tips, and they “might” work for projects with thin solder lines, but for the typical soldering we do with stained glass, this is the tip. Perfect size, heats wonderfully, and the iron is like night and day!

What's great is these tips work on the radio shack model, which rat shack does not offer tips for. There are also several other rebranded hakkos that can use these awesome high quality tips. I use them for large heat sink and SMT work. RF amplifiers with super fast solders, even on the biggest heat. Sinks. Obviously the small tips for the SMT, but this chisel is great for large copper boards and getting between transformers. Since Hakko and radio shack versions are ceramic with auto features the tips last a very long time without loosing the tin. I've even overheated several times and it retins well. Over 998 degrees. For hours. I guess I didn't need to buy extras, been a year now and still using the first version of each size.

So far so good. Used it a number of times with no problems.

I bought this to solder connections for RC cars, and it does an amazing job. Initially, I thought I'd try to get through the job with the needle point soldering tip that comes standard on pretty much all soldering irons. Basically, I made a mess of it. The wires I was soldering were 12 gauge, and the small tip just didn't transfer heat well enough.I bought this tip after reading reviews, and the difference it made was incredible. It's obviously a high quality tip and it looks like it will last a very long time. Solder joints almost look professional! Truly this made a technical job so much easier, and I can't recommend it enough. Also, this does fir the Radio Shack Pro-Line soldering station perfectly.
