Awesome iron, big bang for the buck!
Great soldering iron! hot in less than 30 sec. I have the big brother fx88d and this does everything it does just less temperature control but 3 times cheaper I put on the 5.2 mm chisel tip and it's perfect for anything RC related, these tips literally last for years. This thing will go all the way to 1000F! the 460 setting is 860F & and it's perfect for anything RC related handles 12 and 10 gauge motor wires with ease. I highly recommend this soldering iron for 10 dollars more than a Weller it's 10 times better in every way!

A fantastic hobby iron.
I have used many lower price irons and some mid price irons for the occasional electronic project and have always been disappointed. They never got hot enough, the tips were hard to find, and they never felt good to use. I needed an iron that got hotter and could maintain heat so that I could solder sections of copper plate and thick wire for a project. This iron worked great! It heats up incredibly quickly and gets very hot. No problem heating up large sections of material. The indicator shows when it is up to you're desired temp which is very handy. The build quality is fantastic. The plastic used seems to be a thick nylon and is very sturdy. The cord is very nice, it's not too heavy and easily flexes so it is far less likely to pull the iron around with it's weight. Even the insulation on the cord has a nice feel to it. The temp dial has a firm click and smooth motion. Overall the tool is simply pleasant to use. I have no complaints. The price is worth it and this will likely be the last iron I buy for a long time.

awesome soldering iron
I had a cheap radioshack soldering iron I kept in my electrical kit. It was terrible. No temp control, bad tip, and i always got bad results. So I decided I would get a new iron, that was more capable. I looked around at all the cheap chinese options, and then there's weller brand. I didn't know about Hakko, a famous japanese brand. I didn't want a whole integrated stand like the weller, I just wanted something capable that I could toss into my toolbox. This is the one! This iron was not expensive, is temp-controlled, which you reall NEED, especially for thick items that need more heat. I learned that the HAKKO tips are the defacto standard, and I bought a couple of extra tips. A top buy.

Best functioning iron I have seen! Good buy!
This is much better than iron I already have. It’s light weight, making it easier to work with soldering and love the temperature control. My other iron was always too hot. This stays at temp I set. My soldering is much easier!

Does not keep constant temperature
I bought this to use for stained glass and unfortunately I've discovered that it does not hold Heat. It is beyond the time that I can return it but I had to buy a different one today

High quality
It's high quality soldering iron with adjustable temp. If you solder with this after working with cheap soldering irons, you will definitely see the difference. Highly recommend!

No Power Switch. Can't turn it off.
Works great. I only wish it had a power switch. Thinking about adding one.

Just make sure the tip holder nut is only hand tight
This is the best soldering iron I've ever owned, and I've had a few. I've mostly sprung for cheap ones, which has been hit or miss for me. This thing heats up QUICK, and has great heat output for what I use it for. I will note ONE IMPORTANT THING: many reviews on here complain of the ceramic heating component fracturing after the first few uses. I believe this is because the tip retaining nut is on WAY TOO TIGHT from factory for some of these, which causes it to get compressed too much when heat is applied and everything around it expands ever so slightly, which would cause the cracking and fracturing. The FIRST thing I would do after unpacking it is undo that nut (you might need a wrench. That's how tight mine was on there, and trust me my grip has accidentally broken hardware in the past, so it was not out of lack of trying). After doing so, HAND TIGHTEN THE NUT AND DON'T USE TOOLS TO DO SO. That should save you some heart ache, as this soldering iron is excellent 👌.

I bought this soldering iron and I plugged it into the socket outlet which burnt out instantly. Unfortunately, nothing mentioned in the specifications regarding the voltage. It is only mentioned on the soldering iron itself. Despite that “Hakoo” is very good soldering iron brand, I put one star for the following reasons: 1. Noting mentioned in the specifications about the supply voltage. 2. I considered that all imported electrical items to UAE should be 220VAC.

I ordered this iron as an upgrade to my Sparkfun 937b soldering station. I wanted something more compact yet more powerful, while also more durable. The wand for my 937b would sometimes start to flex if I was applying a little but of pressure to get solid contact between the tip and the work. I wasn't overdoing it, it's just that once the plastic wand would heat up it would start to be less rigid. To begin this Hakko iron is extremely durable. It is very well built. It's very rigid and you can tell from the hardware and fittings that it's meant for steady work and can take heavy use if needed. Also, don't let the nominal 50W power rating fool you. That is the wattage you get if you use the Japanese 100v electrical system. Here in North America where we use 120v this iron runs at 74W. Check the excerpt from the manual I've attached to the review. 74 watts is plenty of power for large jobs like soldering heavy wires and large speaker tabs. And, unlike the many clones and no-name irons and ironing stations out there, when Hakko says 74 W I believe them! Just because a $15 no-name iron says it's 60W doesn't mean it's true! With this iron, however, you can bank on being 74W at 120v. Another advantage is that it has a 2-prong plug, instead of the grounded 3-prong plug that is on the North American market version. While this does mean you have to manually ground it if you want it to be 100% ESD safe, it also means the power cable is much lighter and more flexible than the one on the grounded version. This means it is more comfortable to use, and the cable won't pull the iron out of the holder just by its weight. Grounding is easy, by the way; just before you take the tip to the work, touch it against whatever you are using as a ground bus...like the place you connect your grounding wrist strap and/or your grounding desk mat to. Don't have either of those? Then don't worry about whether the iron is grounded, because you have far more risk from ESD from yourself or the work surface than the iron! Despite being durable and powerful, and having an easy temperature control feature, the iron is also light and really compact, so I can easily have all my soldering stuff in one small toolbox. It is also comfortable in the hand. I don't know why some reviewers have said it's hard to hold, I didn't find this at all. I love using it. I highly recommend this iron if you want to treat yourself to all the best features and reduce your desk clutter. Just make sure you buy GENUINE Hakko tips. This iron will of course take any of the millions of clone T18 tips out there, but the Hakko tips have so many advantages. Why buy a performance vehicle only to put crappy tires on it? The tip is where the rubber meets the road, so to speak, so do yourself a favour and ditch your cheap soldering iron tips!

Product looks genuine. Switched it on and all seemed to be ok: all lights where working and and handle was getting hotter and hotter, but even after 3 min tip was too cold to melt led wire for soldering. I even touched it and it was barely warm. I googled what could be an issue and immediately i found that most likely internal heat conductor is damaged or broken. I open it up and bingo - new item arrived with snapped internal heat conductor.
