RevellCorsair F4U-4 1: 48 Scale , Green, For 12 years old and up

Perfect replica model of the Revell Corsair ~ great project with quality parts.

Was bought for my nephew for Christmas present so I am sure he will love it

This is another Monogram/Revell reissue dating back to 1967, and with that being said, it's a typical example of the model kits from its time period, such as raised panel line details, lack of detail and some inaccurate details; these issues don't make this a terrible kit to build, but it does require some effort to build and finish this kit. Parts not fitting as well as its modern counter parts will require seam filler and bit of sanding. Some of the things that are interesting about this kit is that it features folding wings and retractable landing gears, which is a remnant of build your own cool toy/model, which is typical of 1960's~1980's kits, and since the parts are not as crisp, it does take effort into making these gimmicks work properly. The biggest problem I had with this kit, by design, was the canopy. Clear canopy parts are way too thick, and it would take too much effort to thin them down, and since the canopy frame is molded into to fuselage, it would take a lot of effort to replace it with an aftermarket canopy kit, but the model is not that detailed to begin with to warrant a such tedious en devour.Overall this was a fun kit to build, and at a typical price point of $8 to $14, this is a good value for the money.

This was purchased as gift for my hubby; he is currently waiting on the weather to improve but plans to assemble and fly once he receives the all clear. At that point i will provide an update. I have included pics of the kit, unassembled and notating the paint color suggestions. There was a question about what type of paint to use, again this waa a gift fornthe hubby who has yet to assemble, the paint as reccomended by another reviewer was called Testers.

Shelf sized feature loaded accurate rendition of one of America's top fighter bombers that took the war to the enemy. Easy to assemble and add age, dirt and grime typical of fighters doing their job. I probably built so many of these as a kid, I had my own Black Sheep Squadron. When I sold my Dad's house , there are still thumb tacks in the ceiling where I hung my fighters locked in mortal combat

At 55 years old my husband decided that he would like to revisit his model building days from when he was in his teens/early 20s. He’s a marine veteran and had hand picked out two items from Amazon that he really wanted for Christmas and this was one of them. He is a very picky person and he was delighted and thrilled with the quality and I was thrilled with the price and how quickly I received the item. Highly recommend ordering/buying from this seller!

was a little disapointed there molds are worn had to trim a lot. still makes a good model in the end just lot more work

You should be an experienced builder. The model has a great deal of detail and not meant for beginners. If you have not built several plastic models it would be good to have help from some one who has build detailed models....Have fun and enjoy and learn to end up with a great model.
