BERTUCCI40 mm Field Watch - DX3® Field™ - Black Dial, Black Case, Black Nylon Band 11015

Bertucci DX3 Field
This is the first watch I've purchased in probably 10 years. I got used to having nothing on my wrist and checking my phone for the time, but was informed that it's not "stylish". After binge watching hundreds of YouTube videos, I decided that (1) I like the aesthetic of a field watch with a Nato or Zulu strap, (2) I wanted to keep this purchase simple (under $100, quartz movement) to see if I would actually wear it, and (3) if I did start wearing a watch regularly, this could be the "outdoor beater watch" going forward. Other main contenders were Timex Expeditions and MK1s. The Bertuccis eventually won out though, because they seemed a little more "field" and because of all the helpful reviews on YouTube. Next I agonized between the polycarbonate DX3 for about $65 and the stainless steel A-2S for about $100. After deciding on the DX3 for my beater watch use case, I then agonized about which color to get. I ended up going with the black DX3 with black strap because it happened to be on sale.So far I am happy with this purchase. I really like the look of it in person. The nylon strap is very comfortable and sturdy. The watch itself is exactly what I expected. The polycarbonate material is light but feels well made. The face is simple and easy to read. (I don't need any complications: I'll still use my phone for the date or a stopwatch). The second hand doesn't hit all of the marks exactly but that's fine with me. The watch seems to be a great fit for my wrist, which is about 7.5 inches. It's not too bulky either, so it may work in more formal settings ("field-formal"). The lume looks awesome when it's fully charged up. It dims down pretty quickly, but is still helpful in the dark for a few hours. I appreciate the little touches to help avoid damage, like the crown being located at 4:00 and the recessed crystal. The time is 20 seconds ahead time.gov after about two months, but I was not precise when I initially set it, so don't take that too literally.I noticed some reviews mentioning the second hand becoming detached. Hopefully this is rare occurrence and would be covered by the warranty if it were to happen.I like the all-black look a lot, but would consider getting another Zulu strap to swap on for some contrast (maybe khaki?). For a next watch, I would consider getting a higher end Bertucci if I wanted another quartz. I also like the idea of something mechanical, especially with hand winding - maybe a Vostok or a Hamilton.

Easy to read, lightweight, 10-year battery.
I ordered the watch more or less because I needed a new field watch and the 10-year battery was a big part of what made me pick this watch. Didn't like the band I took apart another band to put it on because there's no pins it's just bars. Watch is easy to read it is amazingly lightweight actually reasonably thin. It's wide enough that it's comfortable but narrow enough that doesn't get caught on stuff when you're working on things or just sticking your hands in your pockets. It's not going to win any beauty pageants, but it's not a dress watch it's a field watch. I have worn it using a heavy bag and it's never banged around it's never changed time it's never lost time the second hand still nice and tight it's working pretty good. Got more than a few field watches, but honestly this is the best value watch I ever bought in my life. I will be buying another one probably going to go with the titanium one next. Conclusion, you want a good field watch it's going to last for 10 years, 10 years this is the watch to get, hope this helps enjoy.

Great everyday watch
I have 4 of these Bertucci watches, 2 with different faces, 3 of the DX3 40MM case, 50 meter rated, and one A-3P Sportsman Vintage Field watch, 100 meter rated. I am by no means "careful" with them, they are tools to me, and if my hand is going into something, so is the watch. None of mine have gotten a scratch on the face, none of them have gotten water/oil/chemicals/soap inside ever. I bought 2 because they had different bands that I liked, and I switch between the DX3 and the A-3P Sportsman Vintage field watch, when I know I'm going to be in/near fresh or salt water. I keep the batteries out of the ones not in rotation so I don't have to worry about leaky battery killing a watch. One thing that is not talked about enough in my opinion is the band they use, which is, I think, the best band you can get. It is the only slip on through the lugs, one piece, truly one size fits all. If you have small wrists, you can heat up a paper clip and make a new hole where you need, and melt the material so it doesn't look like a DIY fix, same for larger wrists. The two metal bands that hold the extra band on it work great, and I remove the bands to clean them with regular soap and water when they get dirty, and i can honestly say that there is not a better watch and band for the money. One thing that is not true, is their "a remarkable 4-year battery life", I get two years on them, and I'm not complaining about changing out a $4.00 battery every two years, it doesn't seem like an unreasonable life to me.

Great wrist band.
So far, so good. Seems to be good quality. Have gotten wet and used in swimming pool. No problem. Wrist band is a bit stiff, but high quality. Will see if it becomes less stiff over time. There are numerous holes in the band, so getting a good fit is easy. It's the best band I've ever had for getting a good fit. Since the band is high quality, I don't expect the holes will get worn out. Also, there is an extra "clip" to secure the excess band, so it's not flopping around like happens with so many other watches. Both "clips" remain secured in place, so they are not sliding up and down in different positions.

Great watch for the money
Only thing cheap about this watch is the price. Great looking field watch.
