Pick something else if you plan to open a salon
I bought this book along with another, as I have a family member interested in owning a salon. After reading it through,I have come to the conclusion that most of the 13 five-star reviews are concocted. The general impression I got, is that the writer held back the valuable details for the course, for which a promotion appears partway through and at the end. The sad thing is, the writer had little of value to say. I certainly would never sign up for this person's course. How he managed to push on for 188 pages is beyond me.I have done a lot of study of SEO, marketing and promoting and this book was over 95% fluff and filler.I read nothing of interest until around page 120, when he recommended turning people who walk through the door into members. I saw merit in that and it is an interesting idea. But quickly after that, it fell into noise and fluff again. Usually when I go through a book, I write down ideas and suggestions that I think are unique, interesting. The member thing is the only thing I took away from 188 pages. In a nutshell, the author talks about his success, how misinformed many salon owners are, his upbringing, a light dusting of things that are suggested in every modern business success webinar and guru course, and glues it together with a lot of fluffy, questionable and obviously false assumptions. Get a Facebook page! Optimize your website! Raise your prices! Little detail or examples how he did it or how he tested ideas in the real world and offers that to the reader.. Just suggestions that almost every current owner is already aware of. As an owner of several businesses myself, some things he claims bring success are blatantly his regurgitation of things he read from others. In fact, I was surprised how he puts a lot of stuff out as if they are somehow enlightened or unique ideas. My recommendation is that I have not yet read other salon success books, but I think you would do better to start with them first, and save this book for those who have no concept of modern business promotional methods, want something a step below 101, and are not particularly interested in actually learning detailed successful methods. In the world of SEO, this book is one gigantic landing page/sales funnel, designed to get the user to upgrade to the paid course. The problem is, I should not have to pay $25 for a 188 page ad.I know there may be a few disgruntled folks who do not like another 1 star review and may comment, but they will be hard pressed to offer powerfully convincing reasons to the contrary. If you do not believe me, buy the book and plan to sell it back used on Amazon. At least you will not lose as much money.

This is a great book to make a successful beauty business.
I read this book cover to cover.Almost first one-third of the book is really boring. Too much unnecessary talk and a waste of time. From the middle of the book, it becomes interesting and overall I loved the book. The book is old and most links donโt work at all. Looks Mr. Dan closed the salon business or sold it to someone else. The information in this book is great and valuable. Anybody can make a successful salon business with the guides on this book. The doesnโt help you to be a better beauty professional. It is essentially a marketing and business book tailored to beauty salons.I recommend the book to whoever wants to build a beauty salon business.

Awesome
This book I could not put down the minute I opened it. I learned some really strategic ways of improving my business. I am a booth renter and still a lot of this applied to me. I am thinking about doing something on my own and this gave me a heads up, and things to think about. If I am not currently doing these things when I am in business for myself on a small scale, how do I think I would ever do it on a larger scale. Made me think. Only thing confused about. He opened it for his girlfriend, but no were does it mention that she was not a slave to the salon. I wish there was more from her. I went onto his website after this and I think it has lost some of its pizzazz.

Is it a biography ? Please Show off
OMG !Please, after the page 80 I had enough of the author talking about himself, how great he is and how great he does. Please learn to be a little more humble. (He even put a picture of himself with his beautiful-show up car.)and of course, make the promotion of his salon.I really regret buying that book and that's sad because it can have some good advices (but you can find them in any "marketing" book.)if you bought that book, an advice, don't read the 50 first pages, it's useless, except if you are a fan of the author.Waste of money.

Lies Salon Owner's Believe
This book hooked me from the first page! I have owned two small salons, and teach cosmetology in a community college. I like to share books and motivational stories with my students and this one is so inspiring that I cannot wait to get back to class on Monday! Dan has so many great ideas, many of which my own dear teacher Jo Watts taught me in beauty school back in 1984. I have been considering opening a salon/spa when I retire, this book has encouraged me to go ahead and do it. I applaud Dan for his courage and insight, thank you for this inspirational book.

This book rips off at least three other authors
This book is somewhere between a sales letter for his Salon Consulting Business and ripping off other better marketing experts without giving credit where credit is due. In addition most of the material is general and you could replace the word 'salon' for other types of business and the advice wouldn't change. He definitely tells you 'what' to do, not 'how' to do it. I recommend that you instead read 'Acres of Diamonds' (the story is told here without crediting the original author), 'the e-myth' on which a lot of this book is based, and then read everything by Dan Kennedy who the authors have also taken many, many ideas without crediting the source.

This book gives clarity about the myths of this industry, and the reality of how to grow.

Inspirational
I read this book in one day. I Have been a salon owner for 20 years and I wish I had had this book when I first started out in the business. If I did I would not have wasted so much time and money doing the wrong things and I would have automated my business a lot sooner. I have learned more about marketing over the years but Dan's book has motivated me to reach further.

Lies salon owners believe.
Terrible book I can't believe it's on shelves. It's more about himself from where he come from and what he has. It's not a bio I can't even say what it is.

A great book that you can read in a cozy night.
I got this book to read when I'm in my reading spot, or in my bed in a cozy night. It's really fun to read. I drink coffee when I read books, and I really enjoyed reading this book! Love to the writer of it!

A good book
Very easy to read and has lots of good suggestions (some you will already know) Dan covers most of the challenges salon owners face and how to overcome them. I donโt think he still owns the salons but the information in the book is still useful.
