Dead Push (Kiera Hudson Vampire Detective Series Two)

This series is gonna land me in therapy yet...
Friggin Hell, Tim O'Rourke is KILLING ME with these books!Seriously, I'm skating the edge of completely mental at this point....oh, but what a way to go!!***contains spoilers from previous books***I'm not gonna lie, after the execution of Potter at the end of 'Dead Water' I was more than a little anxious going into this, there is only so much my poor little shriveled heart can take. This book starts off prior to that very public, very heartbreaking turn of events. Being back in Potter's head after mourning his loss was thrilling, hilarious & devastating all at the same time. I'm admittedly a little emotionally strung out, so my review may be a but jumpy-sorry. I was surprised with how much I enjoyed Potter and Jack Seth's interactions with each other. It was very reminiscent of Murphy, but much more violent LolWith my eyes fixed on Potter, I headed straight for him. Curling my bony fingers into a fist, I punched him squarely in the face. There was a cracking sound as my fist crunched into the flat of his nose and he shot back down the corridor, landing on the floor."What the f*** was that for?""It made me feel better""No wonder my f****** nose looks the way it does. What, with Murphy's driving and people queuing up to take pot-shots at me the whole f****** time...""Maybe you shouldn't be such a prick, and perhaps people wouldn't feel the need to slap you so much.""Who are you calling a prick...?"This book reminded me a little of Harry Potter & the prisoner of Azkaban (think Hermione's time-turner, that's all I'm saying). Lots of action and plenty of mystery but most of all were the chills I've come to expect. The scariest part of these books is the huge amount of unknowns, especially with the characters. You really can't trust anyone or anything, as soon as you do it bites you in the arse and that is what keeps me in suspense the most. As soon as you think you have something figured out, you're proved wrong in the worst possible way. We also get to venture back into Jack Seth's head here and that whole experience caught me off-guard. Besides finding him surprisingly quite funny at times, disturbing at others, it becomes quite clear something has changed with him since being holed up with Kiera and re-living his story. He was trying to break her by revealing their true relationship and the secrets of her past, but I think maybe she got to him instead.'Who was I trying to kid? I'd forgotten how to be good a whole lifetime ago. Being good didn't come easy to me. I struggled with that.'With so many surprising twists this series will do your head in, this installment was no exception. I think I actually tried to reach into my Kindle at one point to unmask the damn photographer myself - I NEEDED TO KNOW WHO IT WAS!! And again with the friggin cliffhanger - you're gutting me O'Rourke!! I'm desperate for the next book but dreading it too because I absolutely do not want this series to end, I cannot say good-bye, we've been through sooo much with these people, can you see my struggles? Are they clear enough?? See....MENTAL! I cannot say this enough -if you haven't started this series yet, why the hell not?!?? Stop reading this review, go get 'Vampire Shift' and get started on this incredible journey. You WILL NOT be disappointed.'Kiera was like one of those f****** kids' toys -a Weeble- it didn't matter how many times you pushed her over -she always got up again.'

Another great addition to an amazing series.
Tim O’Rourke’s pushed world in the Kiera Hudson Series Two novels just got even cooler with the revelation that turning back time is possible. Similar to the concept of Hermoine Granger’s Time-Turner in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the characters in O’Rourke’s novel discover that, in this pushed world, they can turn back time and review events, a task Potter and Jack Seth must complete in order to help push the world back into its right alignment.Think about it. How cool would it be to turn back time and witness events as they happen as an outsider? I’d love that, though the pull of wanting to change events and to interfere would be unbearable, as Potter and Jack Seth soon find out. Together, these two enemies must overcome their hatred for one another in order to save a common love: Kiera. This time, readers get to see both sides of the story, viewing the events leading up to Isidor, Melody, and Kiera’s deaths in the pushed world, and new information has come to light; information that will floor you. As always, O’Rourke surprised me at every turn, and as events came to their climax, I was bowled over by the revelations thrown at me concerning Kiera, Isidor, and Jack Seth.Jack Seth’s inner monologue is absolutely hilarious in this novel. As he works through his sinister feelings, leaping into the past and watching for the photographer, his musings about Isidor and Melody Rose had me snickering to myself as I read. His pet names and thoughts about their actions were quite funny, especially as readers of this series have heard this story before, from a much more serious standpoint in Dead Angels. However, seeing it through an observer’s eyes, obtaining both sides of the picture added a new twist to the story and it is beautifully done, especially as it forces Jack Seth to take a long hard look at his inner soul. And what he finds and chooses to do will surprise you.Potter, ever the snarky mouth-off, finds himself leaping into the past to watch for the photographer at Kiera’s house, however, he soon finds himself battling against his feelings for Kiera—not his Kiera, might I add, but the pushed version; the version destined to die in a robbery shootout. Potter’s thoughts and feelings, and ultimately his actions reveal much about himself and the pushed world, and it is through him that we learn even more concerning the Wolf Man and his seemingly “all-knowing” intentions. So much is revealed in this novel about the pushed world, the elders, and even the wolves—it’s an intense read told from alternating perspectives of Potter and Jack Seth, and I absolutely adored it. Of course, there is a major cliffhanger at the end, but, with Tim O’Rourke’s writing expertise, it won’t be long before we have the next installment, Dead Lost.

Absolutely Brilliant!
Well what can I say apart from Mr Tim O'Rourke at his best yet again. From the minute I started reading, I couldn't put this book down. Having a very energetic 2 year old and many hospital appointments and just moved house I really haven't the time to read at the moment but this series of books just pulls you in and you cant stop. I always look forward to seeing what Kiera and the gang are up to and this book does not disappoint! I wont give anything away but the story yet again draws you into their world and you feel like you are right there beside them. I cant wait to read the next one as talk about cliffhanger... AMAZING writing yet again.

Amazing
Keira Hudson books are sensational, a nail biter and I couldn't put it down from book 1 series one! The end of this book is defiantly a cliffhanger. It's been a while since I've read a book that I just couldn't put down. I can't recommend these book enough. If you enjoy stories that have adventure, romance, love, a little sex and a whole cast of goodies and baddies, but who is the good and more important who is bad? Who will betray you?

another cliff-hanger
Mr O'Rourke you have done it again - I had hoped the anguish of the last book would be eased but after reading Dead Push it has increased - intriguing intricately written and so many answers still to come leaving you with the urge to scream at the ending but we should be used to that by now. Well done Tim until the next no doubt fabulous instalment - thanks for the words and your success is well deserved
