Delightful
I read this book at just the right time,,, when I needed something funny and light.Aisling is a young Irish woman out on her own in Dublin but still tied to her home town through friendships, family and a bit of obligation/guilt.The story is humorous and riddled with Irish slang. Surprisingly, it also touches on the emotions we all experience through love, life and death. I thoroughly enjoyed this story!

Charming and funny
This was a great little summer read. Solid and sensible Aisling is charmingly un-hipster and stays true to her rural roots when her life turns in a new direction and she moves to the big smoke (Dublin). Descriptions of her family and friends and the things they get up to had me laughing out loud. Thoroughly enjoyable.

but I would highly recommend it. As I got further into the story ...
Not really the type of book I would normally read, so I found it hard to get into at the beginning, but I would highly recommend it. As I got further into the story I began to enjoy it. Quite funny and sad at the same time. And yeah, what a complete Aisling - I'd love to meet her!

Worth a read.
I enjoyed this book, geared towards the late 20's and 30's ladies. An easy holiday read, not hard to put down and pick up. Would recommend it to friends who don't read often as its not a book where a plot needs to be followed or much thought put into it .

I just love this book!
Despite all those blurbs on the back of books by Irish female novelists saying "hilarious and heartwarming" or "you'll laugh and you'll cry". Marian Keyes has been the only one genuinely hilarious. But now she's joined by Emer and Sarah. This book is so so funny and my face is still red from the tears at the sad bits. I rarely re-read a book. But this one's a repeater.

Love it, love it
Love it, love it, love it, every Irish girl from outside the Pale can relate to this and to be fair you don't have to be Irish to relate to this book. It is such a good read, with real laugh out moments and the odd moment where your eyes will fill with unshed tears. I have no hesitation to recommending this book.

Fun
Loved this book. And I wasn’t expecting to. But the irish girls are comforting and funny and real. Perfect for lying on couch after surgery, wanting to believe in better, easier things

As Irish as tayto, Guinness and father ted
Your average straight white male here (reading his wife's kindle) to tell you this book, other than being funny, thoughtful & massive craic, is the most Irish thing I've seen or read in years. It gives a glimpse into a slightly different a Ireland than Roddy Doyle, one that exists just far enough down the motorway to be removed from Barrytown in the "Big Shmoke", and show the Ireland and the people I grew up with.I highly recommend this well written journey of an Aishling learning that she is an Aishling, and that while being an Aishling isn't necessarily a bad thing, there are other things to be, than just being a complete Aishling.I loved it, from beginning to end :)

Check your age and interests before purchasing this book
OK, I admit it, it was my fault. I was way too old to read this book. And have very little interest in designer fashion labels. But I was sucked in by strongly supportive reviews by Marion Keyes (whom I like very much), by references to Brigit Jones, and to the fact it was described as a romcom. The storyline was made up of a number of disconnected anecdotes linked by Aisling's on/off long-standing romance, and by people getting off their heads on alcohol and flashing designer clothes and bags. It was difficult to find any real substance or progression to the book and indeed, at the end (towards which I plodded without much enjoyment) it was a bit like groundhog day.I try never to give up on a book but in this case I would have missed nothing. I freely admit that it's an age thing and if I'd been 20+-, I might have been hooting with laughter. I've given it 2* on the grounds that it wasn't badly written, but I will know to avoid this author in the future.

Oh my God, what a complete and wonderful read.
A new heroine to make us laugh, cry and everything in between.Ailing, (pronounced Ashling), treats us to her roller coaster life, her friends, her smiles and her tears.Crisp and very, very clever writing, makes this a book that is destined to become a firm favourite and already has a sequel , I hope, is the first in a long line of the life story of Ailing.Set in Dublin and it’s countryside villages, this is a wry, witty and superb book that will keep you reading into the early hours, for “ just one more” chapter. Highly recommended.

Best comedy character since Bridget Jones
I loved this book so so so so much! Aisling is possibly the best comedy character since Bridget Jones and I absolutely love her. Many books are billed as ‘laugh out loud’ but this one actually did have me guffawing to myself. Aisling herself is hilarious, but the cast of her family and friends are also ‘an absolute gas’. As well as the laughs, like all great comedy, there are poignant moments which left me a mess. Everyone should read this book!

Easy, enjoyable read
Being married to an Irishman, and frequently visiting Ireland, I was transported to Dublin, with the wonderful people and fabulous accent.Aisling is the Irish Bridget Jones - funny and lovable! An easy, feel good book, with the sadness of losing a loved one.
