The Flow is an amazing invention.
The Flow is an amazing invention. It is an excellent 1st-class quality product. Been searching for a long time looking for something like Flow. Exactly what I am looking for. Very excited with the 24/7 data on air pollution. I now have solid evidence/control to decide what to do with regards to avoiding/minimizing air pollution. I could be wrong but I believe it is the only consumer grade pollution device that measures NO2, the toxic gas mostly coming from vehiclesI have received Flow one month ago. I use it all the time, everywhere I go. Very surprised (actually shocked) to find areas having heavy pollution which I have never expected. I have since learned to steer clear of such places.I used to worry about the pollution within and near my house. Now I can see clearly it is not so bad. So glad and relieved.Highly recommended.

hopeless
It did not work, and the battery had a life of one hour.

The future of air quality monitoring
The thickness and overall size of Flow 1 is very convenient and very portable. As for accuracy of measurement, I have not bench marked it against a stationary air quality station. But from comparison with the general air quality condition where I am, its measurements seem reasonable. I have an air purifier which measures PM but its readings vary greatly as compared with Flow. The Flow’s user interface is very good for general user. My iPhone Flow app is very informative, the data is presented in a map with, I assume average values of air quality parameters. The beauty of the map is that it displays the AQI value and also individual parameters , color coded, for the route. Also shown on the screen is the AQI graph, which can be swiped to show time and value. I find this very informative. The feature of Flow I wish to see improvement on is the the exporting of the tabulated data. I cannot choose data set I want. Flow exports all the data measurements, one has to be an excel savvy to quickly manipulate the table. For a novice GIS user, manipulating / integrating the separate tables of measurements and location is challenging. Why can’t flow integrate the two tables. It also sends the kml file but contains only the location of measurement, presumably. Why can’t Flow integrate in the kml the air quality data? But overall, I find Flow a very good product, a must for households with members predisposed to air pollution induced respiratory ailments. Further, I believe Flow is setting the trend for a crowd sourcing based air quality monitoring platform which will bring about highly reliable air quality monitoring system.

Flow Air Quality Monitor could be great if the app gets better...
I have to save that I really do love the design of this air quality monitor. It give you a sense of great build quality. The Foe leather strap is nice but I would have preferred a system that swaps out different mounting systems. As for the data I like that it gives me an idea of the air quality around me. I have chronic dry eyes from being in the LA area and wanted to know is the air might be the reason. And that is were the biggest problem is for me. There’s no way to see an average of the week, month or year while using this device. Which feels like a really big miss on Plume Labs. If you going extrapolate any long term trends from this guy you should be able to see the changes in air quality over timelines to figure out if that half mile walk to the coffee shop is doing more harm than good for you due to poor air quality. If they can update the app to give the user more use of the data I would give Flow 5 Stars for sure. But the app suffers and brings the devices utility way down. One last the the constant pulling of GPS data from your phone will drain your phones better by 20% quicker from my testing so that’s a thing as well.

Very informative
Thia is awesome! It really lets you know what quality of air you are breathing and why you don't feel well in certain places. Has really made me step up my household cleaning game to keep dust levels down to keep allergies at bay.

Not ready for prime time
The Plume flow is an intriguing air quality monitoring device that needs further engineering. I tried it and returned it. There are multiple issues. The battery life needs to be improved. The battery MUST be recharged at least once a day. My device took quite a while to fully recharge but the indicator light showed green when it was just 50% charged. The faux leather strap that is used to attach to a belt or back pack is insecure. My device did not stay securely on my belt and fell off when I did not notice it. Fortunately, this happened in my yard and I was able to locate the monitor. But if I had been on my daily walk it could have been lost. An old fashion snap would work better than the current design.I felt as though I was beta-testing the device. This could be a handy and useful instrument but my advice is to wait for its next iteration.

Great way to measure ‘my personal pollutNts!
Im fascinated as the data gathered by the Flow, as im studying the effect of pollutants on and because of climate change.

Ended up refuting it.
I returned it. They honored my return and gave me a refund.

surprisingly useful
Accuracy not rated asI have nothing to compare it with. However the readings do give a very useful guide to where and when I encounter pollution. I expected new refurbished buildings to give raised VOC and shore enough, my doctor has recently extended and refurbished, it smells of new paint and registered the highest pollution in my home town (Eastbourne , East Sussex) . It could be stressed the daily average here is "low" but when we visit London it shoots up to Moderate or High [Especially on the tube! No surprise but it confirmed my prejudice. The battery only runs for about 24 hours so I have to remember to charge it at least once a day. A disciplines I can put up with as clearly a larger battery would make the device heavier and as made it is very easy to tether it , usually on my belt and get a good reading wherever I am. I am not a great "gadget" fan but this is as I have said surprisingly useful.

The media could not be loaded.

One day this will be a great product, but not quite there yet.
I waited with excitement for this product after reading its glowing review in Which magazine. If it did as the hype claimed, this would be revolutionary.I am sorry to say, that the product is not quite there yet and it is still going through its debugging stage. The negative aspects of this product:a) the instructions on how it works are almost non-existant. I had to spend quite a bit of time going through its website to get some clarity.b) there is little or no technical support from Plume Labs.c) I still cannot get the GPS part of the mobile app to work. The pollutions level part works, but not the GPS. I have tried to contact Plume Labs, but to no avail.d) you can not download or backup the pollution level data - if you want to interrogate the pollution level data, so you can break it down into the different types of air pollution, forget it. It can't be done.e) you can view the data on your PC. You would have thought that it would be possible to view the data on a website, since your data is actually beamed back to Plume Labs. You can't do this. After a week of trying to get my Flow working and attempting to contact Plume Lab, I am sadly having to return this gadget. One day, Google or Apple will buy this company and get this gadget working correctly and then it will transform things.
